Sturridge unloved?

I don't quite know why but part of me is still suspicious about how good Sturridge has been for us. It's like I'm expecting it to all go horribly wrong at some point.

I'm damaged goods as a supporter, clearly.

It's cos we're only used to having one world class player at a time (plus stevie the ever present of course) & we're always mentally expecting them to do one too.

Having another world class striker alongside Suarez is like pulling a model & waking up in the morning with her twin lying on the other side of you. You'd be expecting to wake up at any moment & to be lying next to a 16 stone hevva.

Welcome to my world too.

I'm loving the fact he's been so good and the fact that he used to slide under the radar. Now people are starting to notice him more from outside, I feel ashamed of myself for not liking him even more.

If we didnt have Suarez, I'm sure he'd be more of an icon. We're still, as fans, trying to shake off the "one man team" affection.

I feel a bit bad for @SummerOnions - There are some embarrassing grammar issues in his 'I got a third' confession. I'm afraid it doesn't really help his case.

Quick fella - Get editing! 😉

I didn't take an English degree though!

I did very little work and turned up to about 20% of lectures so i wasn't surprised.

Still got a decent engineering job though, even if it is on a tiny island

Yeah, but if you'd turned up to 20% of your lectures doing an English degree you'd also have got a third. And when you'd had the temerity to turn up at your graduation I'd have nodded at you knowingly.

nah i meant that in reply to my poor grammatical skills

As if I turned up to graduation though, I'm no sucker paying £100 to wear a fucking gown

I'd have said your grammar is better than RA's, anyway. Which is something seeing as he's got the nerve to pick other people up on it!!

I can't believe that Soldado has a song and Studge hasn't. That's our fault Liverpool fans. Nobody else to blame but us. Excepting Red Astaire, who is trying manfully to rectify matters.

I'm saying he scores more goals than a player of his ability ought to, just like Cole and Lampard. Usually for attacking players you would be saying the opposite thing, but those three guys seem to get what the sole purpose and point of football is better than most.

I'm not sure what is worse, the original article or your views on him. Sturridge has been one of the most talented and gifted youngsters of generation. The question never has been ability of talent, rather application and opportunities. I get the feeling that HE feels loved by the club and BR, that''s what matters.

I'm not questioning his talent. But he is scoring goals at a more phenomenal rate than Ronaldo did at Barcelona, and yet he isn't even in the same universe when you compare his limited talent to Ronaldo's. If he wasn't a Liverpool player it would piss me off seeing it happen. Just like it used to piss me off with Andy Cole.

Sturridge and Cole seem to have a knack of appropriating the talents of their teammates and adding it to their own to make themselves look far better than they otherwise should do. He's like the borg.

Good interview with him at the mo on Footie Focus. (Finished now, but seek it out, he comes across so well.)

You protest that you aren't questioning Sturridge's talent but you then give the game away by calling it "limited". Having less talent than Ronaldo doesn't make his own talent "limited". Sturridge is way better an all-round footballer than Andrew Cole.
