Spurs (A), Sun 6th Nov

We scraped though this imo, if both sides were full strength i get the feeling they would’ve beaten us but you can’t argue with 3 points.

Interestingly (to me at least) their midfield 3 only cost something like £70m and weren’t a million miles behind our lads. For all the talk of not being able to find midfielders Id easily have taken an unfashionable player like Hojberg on the cheap a couple of seasons ago to help prevent us from being where we are now.

We were playing with fire by starting most of the same team as we did against Napoli and it told in the 2nd half as we just collapsed in terms of energy levels. Couldn't get out of our own third for long spells and when we did some poor decisions usually gave possession straight back to Spurs.

People really need to stop writing Salah off every time he hits a lean spell. He's a world class player and he's proven over and over in the 5 years he's been at Anfield.

Don't think it was fitness levels, we started the 2nd half terrible, we struggled to connect with simple passes, they hit the crossbar but should have scored, That whole scenario was terrible by us but after about 15 minutes or so we gained control but when we conceded that changed the game. from That points we were really poor, got away lucky a few times.
Still think spurs are a shit side and we made them look better than they are but got a massive 3pts

Have to agree - that 2nd half performance where we just gave the ball away, could not even connect passes, there was some analysis on MOTD, where they showed that we were being man-marked in that 2nd half to the point where we got the ball and each player had his own Spurs Presser with him. We have to do better than that, - makes me think our team are not actually good footballers or rather able to play football under pressure, coz I tell you what - no matter what you think of Spurs, they played some good shit against us in that 2nd half. Fuck me, they were doing what Man City do.

That's called hindsight mate. He was unfashionable and spent some time languishing on the Spurs bench. There'd have been an uproar on here if we'd signed him or someone like him.

For Liverpool we need to pick up players that at least look like they have a lot more in the tank (Mane, Salah, Jota) are young with potentially a high ceiling (Carvalho, Nunez, Konate) or are already top class (VvD, Ali, Fabs). What we don't need to do is take a gamble (Ox) !

Fuck me Moron you really do spout some utter shite at times. A team that came within a combined roughly 45 mins of a quadruple is comprised of not actually good footballers under pressure. WTAF.

Missed the game. Are we jammy? still crap/ Or doing better?

I ask because I was shocked at this result and lept for joy

How was Donkey man?

Didn’t see the game, but I found this lovely photo of @Hansern immediately after the final whistle:

Seems very forced to me with all the “blud” and “fam.” Doubt he actually talks like that. Troopz wannabe.
Lool. He is hilarious, have watched his live streams when Spurs are losing and he loses it, to be fair he loses it when they win.
He is Troopz cousin, and is actually in many ways bigger than Troopz, so he vocab is littered with, Fam, Cuz, Blud, Spliff and Zooby

Lol I seriously don't know how anyone could actually watch him for that. A minute after that I think I start to feel a stroke coming on

A Tottenham fan at the gym this morning was insisting we were "lucky", as too many of you lot above have been saying. No, we ******* weren't. We took our chances, they didn't, end of chat.

Alisson average
Defence except Ibou average
Midfield average
Bobby average
Mo and Nunez class
Ibou class

Spurs fans have been complaining about their poor midfield all season.

Holjberg is a limited crab of a midfielder. Lacks pace, guile and plays the Lucas role of old. I don’t know many Spurs fans that rate him at all.
15m was not getting him on the cheap, he’s lost in the big games.

Not really - its people like you that keep going on about " A team that came within a combined roughly 45 mins of a quadruple" - yeah it was all fun, but we had a lot of luck on the way to getting those finals, and the players were not that great regardless of them getting to those finals. The big picture if you open your eyes is that all these other teams have recruited very well this season, and we have stayed with same old static aging midfielders. Stop going on about last season - its dead/gone/vanished, and the players are one year older. We could hardly take the ball off them in the 2nd half - that is how shit we were, could not even string two passes together, to the point where Thiago turned shit.

We got to three finals, won two of them and were within a whisker of winning the title. You do NOT accomplish that lot through luck. Besides, the players are a grand total of three months older. The recruitment point above I'll give you, mate, but the rest is a pile of @rse.

No its not , we were very lucky :

  • apart from the semi finals for those two cups we won, most games we got easy teams, and more interestingly we never scored in either final during normal time.
  • CL run - that was easier than most - again did not win it.
  • PL - win the spurs game at home and we could have had the title so we failed yet again by getting too many draws.
  • Oh - there was a solid three weeks before the CL final where we had like all our squad available.
  • The other teams we are struggling against do not have the players they have now with the ability to press us. In fact where we played teams last season that pressed us we struggled, that has always been the case when your midfielders are not that good at keep ball and their final 3rd play is like slow motion shit.

Too many people just ignore some of the dross and issues we have had ever since we failed to sign someone to replace Gini that season.

No-one's "ignoring" anything. You're doing your usual thing of kneejerking your way to a nonsensical conclusion about something and then struggling to justify it.

First two points: there are no "easy teams" in knockout competitions. Every game against a lower-ranked side is a potential upset and plenty of those upsets happen. We didn't allow any to happen to us, but went all the way to three finals and won the majority of them, despite being increasingly sh@gged out as the season went on. To describe that as "luck" is complete and utter bilge.

Third, fourth and fifth points: these refer (with varying degrees of accuracy) to things we didn't get done or aren't doing successfully, so are completely irrelevant to the case you're trying to make about us supposedly having been "lucky".

When you're in a hole, Ahmed, stop digging.

We need a midfielder who can up the intensity and physicality of our midfield ASAP.

Thiago couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag without suffering an injury.

Elliott tries hard but yeah doubt he'll ever grow into that physicality.

Hendo isnt that anymore , fabinho looks broken and the rest arent worth the time or effort

First of all I am Not in any Hole, and there is no kneejerking either. You and the likes of @Frogfish are blind to the problems we have had for the last few seasons and only now is reality hitting most people here. As for your comment about there are no "easy teams" in knockout competitions - that is proper bollox if there ever was one. Especially on a day like this when we have drawn Real Madrid, I am sure if you did a poll on here most would chose any team but them.
