Robertson was a red though. Yes Kane should have been sent off.

Can see why the handball wasn't given. Wasn't clear, arm by his side, didn't appear to change the flight of the ball.

We can't blame the ref for this.. it was our shit tactics.

Not blaming him for the loss. Just saying he’s shite.

Of course it changed the flight of the ball for fuck’s sake!!!

Klopp standing there agape like the 2nd half of the Villa game and the Leicester match didn't happen.

Might do something to change it up in another 6 games.

Dont expect miracles. Hes been doing that 'incredulous' routine for 6 months. He seems incapable if recognizing the problems in this squad. Our midfield has looked paper thin for 18 months and we've done nothing to address it while spending £150m on left sided forwards.

I want ox in the middle 3 ... he can bring back up, can cover defensively, better engine than hendo/thiago etc.

That's where he really made his mark before the roma injury derailed his career with us.

Yes its desperate but we need stronger fighters in the middle, and I'd rather go with him than harvey

imagine, dendoncker would take our midfield to the cleaners, and he is on villas bench
just out of pure athleticism. that is how shit it is now
elliott and thiago against a tough physical opponent, wtf did klopp think?!

“It’s dark. That is not cool. I have some candles. Great candles. But I need a lamp. I go to ikea. Unbelievable ikea. It has everything you know. I go in for a lamp. I buy a table.”

Elliott must have nudes of Klopp on his Iphone....Surely he doesn't see this wonderkid no one else sees?

Yup, this really really stands out ... maybe the team can only 'drive forward' if hendo is on the pitch?
Where are all our leaders? Our 'winners'?
Too tired still?
Saving themselves for the world cup?
World cup hangover?
Klopp has to defend the players - I get it - but some of these players should not have been in this team ...
We have waited too long - or are too loyal for whatever reasons - to players we should have moved on and replaced ...
And these mistakes have made this team old and stale.

World Cup hangover ? Half the team were playing golf riding bloody camels in the desert !!! During mid season !!!

Show me.. I've seen it from a few angles and it looked minimal to me.
It’s significant enough to contribute to the angle it struck Konate and end up in the corner of the goal.

Fwiw, ‘minimal’ Is enough anyway. Absurd that once it’s determined it’s hit his hand and the ref hasn’t seen it, that he was not then advised to video review.

Disagree, I'm afraid. I've never once been impressed with Salah when he's been played down the centre as opposed to coming infield from the right hand side. It's no coincidence that those occasions have been few and far between.
I get that, he’s looked a little lost as a sole number nine at times, but it’s a different matter for him to play centrally alongside someone like Nunez.

That holds promise..

Its a grey area one. I'd be disappointed if it went against us. His hand was by his side, for me you just can't give those as handball.

Worried there is more truth to this than I want to believe

It's bullshit. Klopp is very politic and rightly so, but read between the lines and he's basically said yeah, we need more money and more players in midfield.

I think the amount that we've conceded is primarily down to the midfield. But it is the whole team. We need teams to respect our pace and lethality in attack. They don't, and they don't need to. Without additional help, Salah reveals his limitations, and Nunez is just out there game after game where with more luck hed be on the bench bedding in far slower.

Our midfield isn't creating anything by pressing anymore, and it's not creating on the ball. Off the ball it's a free run at our back line.

Yes, that backline has it's faults and vvd will never find God mode again sadly, but it's not the weakest part of the team. Far from it, but it's being asked to do the thing our team play is meant to stop it from having to do, at times 10 times in a match, which is, oops, we coughed the ball up in possession and we are all high up the pitch.

It's like analysing how a car reacts to hitting a brick wall at 90mph and complaining about the airbag. Yeah. Maybe the airbags could be marginally better but, I'd rather not keep hitting the wall.

Agree with this totally, you are right the creativity is just not there - I am so tired of all this slow build up play, there is no urgency or anything. Having said that - the team we had in that 2nd half should be good enough to win against most teams, much of what happened today is down to the manager, and why he keeps playing Elliot just fucking drives me nuts.

If those are the tactics it could be worth bringing Mølby back in a coaching role.

We were playing away to a team that have only lost at home to the league leaders this season. We had to be 'on it' from the start, and we were. For the first ten minutes I felt we were ok and were more than edging it. What became apparent was not news, our midfield can't cope with the responsibility of holding the ball high up the field.

Elliott was all at sea in his role 100%, I don't believe he identifies as a midfielder, if he does he needs to reconsider at this early point in his career. This leaves Thiago and Fabs, both who have proved at the highest level they are amongst the best over the years. So why couldn't they cope? Was it purely that 2 out of 3 wasn't enough?

Curtis Jones was pretty awful when he came on and Kieta, whilst better, didn't change the overall picture.

I'm ok with our defence and attack in general but it seems clear the issue is our midfield. Arthur Melo was not the answer in the Summer and still isn't. So what is? If we get to Jan 31 without significant midfield investment we won't be in the top 4 and we won't have got anywhere in the cups. Which begs the question, what is the ambition?

We all laughed about the "right player" nonsense coming out of the club in the summer but to me the die was cast when we failed to add a real midfielder. You can't half arse success in the premier league, the standards are just too high. Which effectively means the ambition for this season was to tread water and wait to see who is available in summer 2023.

Salah is woefully ineffective when the CB can support the left back , he desperately needs someone to stretch the left side of the pitch ,keita broke through the lines last night and created channels which was a start but we cannot continue with the current personnel and system, it's broken.

Woeful press
Elliott in a midfield three
Trent/konate

Darwin needs a goal and fast , feel like hell hit a purple patch with a bit of confidence
