I wonder what type of selection reaction we're likely to see from Klopp? I'd put that game on a par with the drubbing by Villa a few years back, it was nearly that bad at least. It will be interesting to see if it prompts some kind of rethink, or at least forces a few decisions that have been on the horizon for a while.

The FA Cup tie is sort of the perfect game to go into, an excuse to try one or two players and being at home, in the cup, of an evening, it's the perfect chance to set a few things straight and see what might work moving forward.

Too many problems to list and discuss, but the most troubling thing is that they are obvious to everyone including opposition managers. We are easy to play against and rely on world class moments at the back (Ali) or the front (Mo).

Carlo Ancelotti said at the end of the Champions League final that we were so predictable and easy to play against. I think pretty every manager in the league has now sussed us out and know that we'll buckle under the first hint of pressure. The first goal came from the loss of the ball at the edge of the Brentford box and 3/4 passes later they're through on goal. It's a recurring theme regardless of the opposition.

I remember that comment from Ancelotti. Sadly, he was spot on then. We came out the same way, always.
Now, we weren't easy to beat, but they knew what to expect and could prepare. Still feels like that.

It’s because we are so slow in possession and don’t have those quick high up the pitch turnovers to cause chaos.

We don’t keep possession in the final third anymore. Then the opposition know they can wait for the ball and knock it long and chase. VVD can’t do it alone anymore, he’s lost that aura.

He was at fault for that goal, obviously (and even that wasn't exclusively on him) but that "lost possession" stat is just pure click bait shit which suits the current media narrative. Pretty sure there was a similar stat for De Bruyne a couple of years ago because he's the main creator in the team
