Not the price tag debate again?

Seriously let's drop it already, it's not going to change.

He's not had 1 Welcome to LFC from any of you...😢

A nice milky drink at bedtime tonight

Someone made a point earlier that if he was playing in Germany with these stats we would cream ourselves.
Hes scored 19, 23, 13 and 15 goals the last 4 seasons.
Hes also scored 10 in 36 internationals.

I'll be honest I havnt watched a lot of him, but he looks on paper a serious upgrade in goal threat from say Lallana or Milner.

Im quite surprised by the apathy for his signature.
He ticks a lot of boxes for us.
And if all that fails as Bill Burr says.....jees we gotta get some black guys in this team.

It's purely because he's from Southampton, sprinkled with a light glaze of worries about his consistency.

Why does the club we signed him from matter?
We signed Clyne, Lallana and Lovren from Southampton its not like they are 3 cloggers is it?
I dont get it.

So much for blaiming the "committee" eh:

Jürgen Klopp revealed his delight with the deal to bring Sadio Mane to Liverpool after the club completed the signing of a player the manager has tracked closely for a number of years.

The Senegal international today finalised a switch to Anfield from Southampton, where he scored 25 goals in 75 appearances during a two-year stay – including four strikes against the Reds last season.

Mane first caught Klopp’s eye at the 2012 Olympics football tournament as his country reached the quarter-finals, and the German continued to follow the forward’s progress as he impressed for Red Bull Salzburg and then the Saints.

Now the 24-year-old will enter the next stage of his career with Liverpool, and the boss is eager to begin working with his latest recruit when pre-season kicks off at Melwood later this week.

Klopp told Liverpoolfc.com: “I have followed Sadio for a lot of years since his impressive performances in the Olympics in 2012, and then watched his development in Austria and in his time at Southampton.

“Since I came here I have spoken to the staff a lot about him and have always felt he could be a very good signing for us. He has a lot of quality, works hard and has a very good goalscoring record.

“When I spoke to him I could tell that he was passionate about joining the club and playing for our fantastic fans. I think they will be just as excited about seeing him put on a Liverpool shirt as I am.

“It is great that we have managed to sign him so he can work with us from the first day of pre-season.”

That right there is all that matters to me to be honest. If Mr. Klopp has been following him for a few years, spoken to his staff about him and feels he's somebody that he wants to work with, I couldn't care if it's 34m, 44m or whatever amount OR whether he came from the Saints, Mancs or wherever. It's not my cash anyway.

All I'd like to say now is, Welcome to LFC, Sadio. Hope you have an excellent career with us. YNWA.

Do someone really believe and I mean REALLY BELIEVE that Klopp won't have the last say in all of our transfer deals?

He of course know all about our famous committee and it is 0% chance that he would have joined us if he wasn't guaranteed to have the last say in all our transfer deals.

The committee probably still exist but now it can't decide things and only exist to help the manager and do what he tells them to do IMO.

Worth mentioning that out of his 14 goals this season, 4 were against us. Against Ming, Moreno & Dopey.

If your'e to deduce his ability from that stat, those 4 should count as 1 max.

So is the overall feeling one of slight apathy?

Perhaps I'm being overly dramatic, but when you buy someone for 30M, I expect to be fucking excited. It was the same last year with Benteskey. Just meh really.

He might be good, and I'm not particularly against the signing, but fucking 30M?! That's a lot of coin.

It seems like 30M is the new 7M from about 7 years ago when we were buying Crouch and all those types.

Football is businesses now. You won't stand a chance if you don't have a lot of money and how to use all the latest technology. You must scout every opposition player and find out all their weaknesses and strengths or you won't stand a chance.

So many one season wonders out there but the main reason is that before they to deliver teams didn't scout them good enough. The second difficult year and all that.

Scouting and money. The two big keys to success.

I don't know about everyone else but I find the prospect of a front 3 of Mane Origi and Sturridge pretty damn exciting.

Don't think Klopp will go for it all the time but can't imagine too many teams would fancy their chances against that.

There's a video of Mane doing some great "pressing". I wish that was a thing when i was playing. I would have been signed for the 'Pool. I was great at chasin' down those defenders. Ok, time to turn the filter back on...

So, Mane - he falls mainly on the plain side of my expectations. What's his assists like?

I dont get it.

Southampton have a habit of selling players who don't turn out to be as good as they were for Southampton.

So either they know exactly when to sell a player (and your earlier African 23 comment is relevant in this regard) or theres something about their tactics that benefits the player they're selling.

Clyne is the main exception.

If you look past Lovren and Lallana, who are the other players?

Both Shaw and Schneiderlin have been decent for Utd, and will probably kick on under Mourinho. Utd overpaid for them mind.
Chambers and Ox were to young and are still young for that matter.

Walcott and Bale are excluded that goes without saying.
