Anyway, he's the Bellingham alternative, aka the realistic option, isn't he?

I likey. A few years ago we were taking about them in the same breath.

Ok @Modo you've been strangely silent on this one. I remember that you were hot on this dude a year or two ago. What's your thoughts now after his difficult time at Bayern?

I honestly think it's a risky signing, cause why would Bayern want to sell him otherwise?
It's a good thing he's only 20 years old, so time is on his side.
I also believe he's more suited to play our style of football and the physical side of the Prem will not be a problem.

They probably don't. And not for 25M.

Yeah, he had a difficult first year at Bayern, but that’s not unusual. They clearly still believe he can become an important player for them in the future and won’t sell unless there’s a silly offer. The only thing that can change the equation is if Gravenberch himself is so disillusioned with Bayern he pushes for a move.

I watched him playing for Ajax a fair few times, the kid is quality.

No chance Bayern sell for 25m when they paid a similar amount to that.

They’d most likely be asking to double their money with the length of contract he has remaining.

I also wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a mainstay in their starting XI next season.

I’d imagine his a bit miffed about losing his place in the Dutch squad for the World Cup - not sure if he was injured as well, but maybe he’s f**ked off enough to agitate for a move.

He’s not exactly justified much of an increase in value if Bayern want to cut their losses rather than hang on to a potentially unhappy player.

He won't be cheap but he's clearly now being positioned as the Bellingham alternative. No doubt some in the know journos will start briefing that he was always our no1 target and Jude was a smokescreen.

We’re signing both.

We’re also signing Rice, Koopmeiners, Mount, Tielemans, Matteus, Oliseh, Ward-Prowse, Pereira, Mac Allister, Neves, Caicedo, Ugarte, Hatate and at least 2 X Kone’s (the one at Mönchengladbach & the one at Watford), while also giving Milner an extension and deploying Trent in midfield.

We’ll be well covered by August.

How many of those can also play at left wing forward, where we've clearly underinvested in recent times?

We’re obviously signing some Georgian bloke from Napoli for that.

Now we need to make a similar list of CBs and RBs that we need to sign.

Wait, does this mean we're no longer signing Mbappe?

If we sign a Georgian, it will more likely be this one.

I don't know much about this Gravenberch bloke but is he tall, strong, athletic and cunty?, because that's what we need. Ideally three of 'em and then we can play Klopp's heavy metal and Trent's problems go away etc etc

Just need a shedload of cash/luck.

Did we ever try for him before he left for Bayern though? He went to Bayern, didn't pull up any trees, and all of a sudden we are paying a premium on top of however much they paid to Ajax for him?

It shows a level of incompetence and desperation.

Based on several reports, he was our number two choice after Tchouameni. We focused entirely on Tchouameni. In the meanwhile, Bayern moved for him. Tchouameni turned us down.
