Ryan Gravenberch

Really hope the sequence of comments on this page alone isn't going to sum up our summer. (as funny at our expense as it may be)

We'll end up paying 2x his value because our fans are having a meltdown on twitter and the owners will feel the need to please them every club owner on the planet knows we are desperate for midfielders and it would be irresponsible on their part to not to charge atleast 2x the amount.

Then he'll be shite.

I am betting every agent will ask us atleast 25% more on wages than what they ask other clubs. We have backed ourselves into a truly awful negotiating position.

They’d probably deserve that 25% because it honestly feels like any midfielders not in the final year of their contract, not ‘transfer listed’ or without a low release clause will have to borderline force a move to Liverpool if they want it.

We’re so tight we are trying to land a Bellingham for Bellamy money which isn’t going to happen without a nudge, a clause or a big gamble.

I was reading some Ajax fans essentially say he was pretty overhyped at Ajax and that they're not surprised at all he's struggled for game time at Bayern. It dampened my enthusiasm for him, tbh. There's a lot to like about Gravenberch - his first touch, ability to progress play, generally press resistant and technically able, but it needs acknowledgement that he will be more of a project than the likes of Mount, Macalister, etc. The fee needs to reflect that. It also sounds like he will have to push for the move also, so it could definitely drag on. There seems to be good relations between Bayern and Liverpool, which would help navigate some hurdles if he definitely wants out, however you would expect Gravenberch to want to see the impact of Tuchel before making a big decision over his future.

This could be our second smokescreen off the transfer window and it’s still April!!

So another club is thinking "these owners will pay anything, they wouldn't possibly pass up this opportunity if we ask for too much money, as their need is so great, and they clearly feel a massive pressure to keep the supporters happy."

Hahaha.

Liverpool making progress over Ryan Gravenberch transfer

One man whose name has been strongly linked in recent weeks is Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
He appears to have muscled towards the top of Liverpool’s wanted list after falling out of favour with Thomas Tuchel’s side. Indeed, he was on Klopp’s radar, prior to his exit at Ajax and reports of late claim they could look to resurrect their push.
And with talks reportedly being held his club, his father and his agent, it seems the player is reportedly willing to make the move.
Now trusted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano appears to have given Liverpool’s prospects a shot in the arm.
And, speaking to Caught Offside, he claims Liverpool are pushing hard to sign the 20-year-old.
“Liverpool are still there for Ryan Gravenberch, still pushing, they have not given up,” Romano said.
“They consider him as a perfect signing, and he wants to play, not to be on the bench like he has been at Bayern.
“Still, Bayern want him to stay, so they have no intention to negotiate. Let’s see if they can persuade him to stay.
“Liverpool are waiting, but Bayern consider him a really important player.”

I don’t recall our ever getting a player for whom there’s been a blue by blow account of our interest. That’s why the move for Bellingham is dead in the water, Harvetz and Werner also never came.

VVD did come after prolonged interest. Keep the faith i guess?

Except he didn’t. The move was leaked (it as all so secret up to then), the deal was shut down and we apologised. I know he eventually came but the actual negotiations were not conducted in the full glare of the media.
