Brendan Rodgers wants Maxi Rodriguez to extend his Anfield stay.

The boss has had discussions with the Argentina international and admits his future is not certain.
However, Rodgers is an admirer of Maxi's talents and hopes he can be persuaded to remain on Merseyside for the forthcoming season.
He explained: "I have known about Maxi for a long time. He will understand 120 per cent about the way I want us to play.
"But sometimes there are issues that surround that - that's what I am speaking to him about now. He doesn't speak the language, it has been difficult for his family.
"If a player like him wanted to leave, it would not be because of the club. Sometimes it is just personal issues. I have had a couple of really good conversations with him. I know his thoughts and how he is thinking. It was a difficult season for him. He probably felt that he should have played more.
"We will hopefully see where he is at over the next couple of weeks and find a solution for him.
"But he would be a very good player for our squad."
Maxi has scored 17 goals in 73 appearances for Liverpool since being signed from Atletico Madrid in January 2010.

Good news I feel, could work well in this set-up

i feel pacheo and maxi are competing for a similar role - i'd rather hedge my bets on the future rather than a standard player now.

I hope it all works out for Brendan..

Cuz, if it doesn't, we are going to be the laughing stock of tippy tappy football.

Liverpool Football Club can today confirm that Maxi Rodriguez has joined Newell's Old Boys in Argentina.
Maxi, who arrived at Anfield from Atletico Madrid in January 2010, netted 17 goals in 73 appearances for the Reds.
Highlights of the midfielder's Anfield career include two hat-tricks in the space of a couple of weeks against Birmingham and Fulham in 2011 as well as important strikes against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in November of that year.
Everyone at Liverpool FC would like to thank Maxi for his contribution to the club and wish him all the best for the future.

So much for the 'improved' LFC TV - they reported the 'Maxxi to stay' story about ten minutes before the website confirmed his departure.

His head looks photoshoped in that last picture.

It also has an uncanny resemblance to that troll picture that Rosco has as avatar.

Dear Reds, I am leaving Liverpool FC today.
Before signing for LFC, I just saw the club as one of the greatest institutions in football. After my time here I can confirm that this is not just a great club but also a great family.

I have tried to give everything every day that I was wearing the LFC crest. It has been a great honour to defend this shirt during two and a half years. I am returning home with a suitcase full of great memories, good friends within the team and also within this great family that works every day in the club. Thanks a lot for your support. You can NOT imagine what a great honour it was for me when the Kop sang, 'Maxi, Maxi Rodríguez runs down the wing for me da da da da dada...'

Hasta la vista.

Maxi

Thanks so much Maxi for playing for us in return for just £5m a year. Heart of pure gold. I only wish I could have written that in Spanish but unfortunately I could never be arsed learning. 🙂

Some other sites saying he was on 90k a week. That cant be right?!

that was always the figure i remember also and i think he had to take a wage cut from a.madrid to join !

would have liked him to stay , very useful player but if he hasn't learnt much english in the few yrs here and this is more for family reasons as Rodger said then fair enough .

Er..... Muchos Gracias Maxi???

criminally underused by kenny last season. one of the genuine goal scorers we had at the club. was really hoping he would stay.

Top player. I wish him all the best, I just hope some cunt doesn't get all revisionist in a couple of months and starts saying we shouldn't have 'got rid', we didn't.
