Pre match thread: Norwich - Liverpool

I don't rate him and think "wonderful" is a step to far in describing him!

He stands out for Norwich due to a distinct lack of quality throughout the team.

Between this and the whole Henderson great debacle, It seems I use superlatives a bit more freely than the rest of the forum.

Ha! Maybe.. I think the Hendo train in well and truly packed though - there are few questions now about what he adds to the team and we may unfortunately see the downside to not having him in midfield at the weekend. Not just his play but he does a hell of a lot of talking to the likes of Coutinho and Sterling giving direction and hopefully that isn't missed.

Well smash this lot. They're shit at the best of times and know they are fucked with their run in. Oh, and a hapless step in manager. We'll certainly score at least one more than them....

Bib theory line up:

Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Flanagan, Gerrard, Lucas, Coutinho, Moses, Sterling, Suarez.

JK, no bib theory this time around. No pictures of them wearing bibs.

I really hope we don't play Moses, what would be the point with Chelsea up next? Unless we're banking on Sturridge being fit for Chelsea, we should be getting someone else prepared.

Another one bit....hahahah

Don't think he'll play Moses. He brought on Lucas against West Ham and I believe he can do a job against Norwich as well.
It will most likely be Gerrard, Lucas and Allen in midfield.

Probably, it'd be kind of interesting to see Aspas, I'd love the romanticism of someone coming in out the cold and becoming a last minute hero.

I hope so.

Its quite a big shuffle. Could bring Aspas in for Sturridge and Allen in for Henderson if he wants to continue with the same approach.

Would actually quite like to see Aspas start but im worried that he hasn't even played any reserve games so just won't be sharp unless they've been nailing him in training this week to get him ready to step in.

Would really be the writing on the wall for him if he doesn't get an appearance in this.

Why ? He's offered nothing at all for me. I just can't see Rogers risking it at this stage of the season. Would be a bad move IMO but I get shit wrong all the time.

I remember being completely puzzled by Rodgers playing Moses in the hole earlier in the season. Sterling makes it work for him (Rodgers) though after a settling in period. Interesting to note the difference between the two players in how they coped with the positional change.

Seeing Moses' name then just made me cast my mind back to those performances and shudder. Damn you Modo.

Maybe the projected / expected status for Sturridge for the Chelsea game might have some influence on who we pick this game. If Sturridge isn't expected to be able to start against Chelsea, it's quite likely that Lucas will feature in that game. It'd then make sense to give Lucas the full 90 minutes against Norwich to help with his match fitness and sharpness. He's played only slightly more than 65 minutes total over the three games he's come on as a sub since his return from injury.

Well yeah, but putting in Lucas & Allen for Henderson & Sturridge is a bit of a big shuffle in terms of approach. Of course they're our most experienced alternatives, so..

I think our squad is very used to 4-3-3 so shouldn't be a problem, and Suarez was also scoring for fun the last time Sturridge was out so I'm not worried in that respect.
I see a tiny possibility in Rodgers having a go with the 4-4-2 diamond by putting Sterling upfront to make all the runs behind the defence Sturridge style. Might work, but Coutinho and Sterling either side of Suarez and the two workaholics in Allen and Lucas covering our full backs and helping Stevie gives me more confidence.
I really didn't like the 4-3-3 when Gerrard was one of the two midfielders ahead of the dm, but Gerrard sitting back should be great.
