Pre match thread: Liverpool - Man City

That video was brilliant. I love when players do things like this. Seems like a great bloke.

So gee'd up for this.

To be top of the table and this close; to go into the match against the No 1 opponent for the title 2 days before the 25th anniversary, having everything in our own hands and everything to play for.
Not depending on anyone else.

Whatever happens, I'm so proud of the lads, the gaffer and all the supporters.

But I hope both Citeh and the Chavs step out of Anfield in shock, with their ears ringing and deafened by the red fury, and that everyone in their team remembers forever the day they were broken by the Reds. Especially, ESPECIALLY Jose the Shush.

If we lose then we could be out of it. Can't say the same for Man City though, they could still be in it if they lose.

At this stage it's all "could be" though TBF. You can bet the rest would rather be where we are at this stage.

That city team won't have experienced an atmosphere like Anfield on Sunday. It'll rival any champions league night.

That could well be a huge advantage, & that combined with that fact that after a few teams playing various tactics aimed at simply keeping us quiet recently & then playing a team that will actually open up & give Suarez, Sterling & Sturridge space that will give us a little more freedom going forwards could easily be the tipping point.

We ain't gonna keep a clean sheet. It's unlikely we'll be getting three penalties, there'll be a few goals & it could well turn into a pissing contest between the forward lines.

In that contest I fancy our lads every day of the week.

I'd love it (afterwards not at the time) if this game turns out like the Liverpool - Arsenal game of 2009, but with us winning this time like we deserved last time, and going on to win the title, like we should have done that year, what a game that would be.

At this moment I'd take a scrappy 1-0 with the ball bouncing in off of Aggers left testicle all day long.

Brilliant, brilliant video with the Studge there (or Judge Studge as he calls himself at one point 😉). The guy was a total natural with those kids, and BTW has a real future in broadcasting when he finally hangs his boots up, hopefully after becoming Liverpool's all-time record goalscorer.

Even liked the cheeky little bluenose bint and her joke about Liverpool players arriving in dustbins. 😀

Although saying that maybe not, that would probably keep him out for the rest of the season!

It always surprises me how well spoken Sturridge is, he comes across fantastically well on camera.

One worry I have is that we allow our opponents quite a few long shots (or it atleast feels like it) and those which aren't blocked by Skrtel/Gerrard could be a danger when coming from the likes of Toure, Aguero (if fit) and Silva.

I'd say we've a 35% chance of winning the league at present, if we beat City I'd say we have a 60% chance, if we draw it's 20% and if we lose it's all over.

I think Sturridge V Dimichalis and Navas v Flanagan are the key battles and I have a suspicion that we're gonna do 'em 4-2.

Brizzle: true, but there's encouragement even in that. For one thing I suspect teams take pot shots because they know we're going to be straight on to them fighting for the ball, so they need to do something with it pronto. For another, if he's on his game Minge can handle those long shots all day.

Agreed - but its just another level of things playing over in my head. Downing donking one with his right foot is happy days, Toure firing on into the top corner is playing through my mind non stop!

This is probably the most important league game I will have watched us play in my lifetime so far. Thank you Rodgers!

--------------------Mignolet----------------
Johnson----Skrtel----Sakho----Flanno
------------------Gerrard-----------------
----------Hendo---------Lucas----------
Sterling--------------------------Suarez
------------------Sturridge--------------

Coutinho in 2nd half if Man City defenses not breached by then.
Kop as 12th man absolutely critical

It's a bit of a shit or bust situation in my mind. We really need to win. A draw could see us out of it and I think Citeh will feel that's the case too. A point for them is a good result. Only Everton away looks a threat to them after this game. Bottom line, we need the three points and the way we play at home I think we'll really go at them and try to put them on the back foot. They have top players on the break just like we do. Could be a defining match of the entire season.

I had a dream about the match last night.

I think it's the first time I've ever dreamed about a match. It made me wake up and everything. I think Henderson scored a goal in it if anyone wants a tip for any bets.

I posted this in another thread, thinking it was this one. That's a few times I've done that. I think the stress of this season is getting to me.

If we win this, would a draw against Chelsea do? Obviously, we'd like to win both, but it's unlikely we'll keep this run going for the next five matches.

That would be a helluva long bounce .. all the way from the stands/bench eh ?

Ruairi: that's happened to me twice, both times before we played F.A.Cup Finals. Before the first Merseyside final I dreamed we 'd win 2-1 with goals from Rushie and Craig Johnston - in the event we won 3-1 with goals from Rushie (2) and Johnston. Then before the F.A.Cup Final in the Treble year I again dreamed we'd win 2-1, with both goals from Stevie G - we did win 2-1 and, though it wasn't Stevie, the same player got both our goals.

Cue "Twilight Zone" music....

*Looks out window to check for any gremlins*

Don't think so. City could go one point ahead of us then.
