Pre match thread: Liverpool - Man City

With Navas, though, when a player's that quick there's always a risk involved. I always felt that was at least half the value of Lord Frodsham - opposing teams might not rate him that much, but they couldn't relax against that kind of pace.

That is true. Unfortunately for Cisse, his pace was too fast for his eyes and brain, resulting in way, way, way!!! more offsides than goals or assists in his career.

Feck it... As it approaches, I'm becoming more and more worried. Our respective strengths correspond with our respective weaknesses - This one could be epic... Very worried that Yaya will induce a yellow for Stevie too.

Just to beat @Modo to the punch for once, here's the prematch.

I love how he mentions everyone at the club - from the players to the canteen ladies - it's just so shankly-esque.

I love how he talks about what getting into the CL means - not only to the club but to the store owners who'll make more money because of it.

I love how he talks about respecting the opponent, despite the fact he's going to show them none on the footy pitch.

The guy has really grown into the position.

Aye. I don't know exactly when it happened, but at some point from last season to this, Brendan has twigged the true enormity of this club, and the role he is in, and consequently everything it's about. He speaks with reverence now, when talking about the past, the city, his methods, his staff, the players, he sees it all (rightly) as an interlinked organism that all contribute to what we do and the success we may enjoy.

TBF he spoke about those things from very early on. I'd put the difference we're now seeing down to his becoming more confident and generally less verbally clumsy.

Well yeah, a bit more conviction and on-the-job learning (you always need a minimum of a few months (4-8, we took about 6 to click) to bed in to a job like this) have certainly played a part. I just think he's really bought in though, and he's loving life here.

Yeah, I think it's easier for people to pick holes in comments though, when it's not being mirrored on the pitch.

Strangely, I'm feeling more confident the closer this gets.

We're awesome at home, they have a terrible record at Anfield and a real weak link centre back.

We'll score 3+

Forget about Flanagan v Navas/Nasri/Aguero/Jesus/Whothefuckever. This is about Rodgers v Pellegrini.

Only one winner here. We're gonna win this fucker.

Text me the result when its over.

Went back and watched complete match highlights of our game at the Etihad.
We matched them very, very well indeed. We were desperately unlucky not to draw that game - and potentially win it.
I am not worried about this game - were are playing football better than they are at this current time. If we lose, it will be down to some freak goal, so I can't see it.
Big win for us.

Really think Liverpool will sweep them away and win comfortably, was more nervous and less confident about last weeks game.

Just cannot see the team with the crowd behind them allowing City to fuck things up for us.

3-1 with a late City consolation, Sturridge 2 and Suarez.

Whatever the system or players we play, we need to have someone on David Silva as soon as we lose the ball. I'd play Lucas for this one.

Stop Silva and their attack becomes a lot less daunting.

Are people really thinking it's a given we'll beat Man City? This is going to be a tough game, it's a real hard one to call.
