Hello MORON,

Thanks for the enquire, personally i think we have a very good chance against city if we play as well as we can. Everyone will need to give to give 110% , but we can do it. The game will be a classic and the atmosphere will be electric, and I too cannot wait.

Yours,
Mystic

Oh FFS. Mystic! Now you've got me all confused.

Flanagan has been given various nicknames since breaking into the first team -- including the "Red Cafu" (acknowledged by the Brazilian himself on Twitter) and more recently, "Flanny Alves." But neither of these are entirely appropriate -- and presumably that's the joke, because Flanagan isn't that type of player at all.

I preferred Jon-aldinho but whatever

He is actually a bit similar to Zabaleta, will be interesting to see how the left side of the field works out. Flanagan is up against some good players.

There's certainly a part of me that loves the mental attitude of "we'll simply run through them and let them worry about what we're going to do". The other side of me, though, says I like it far more when we've got someone like a Coutinho or Sterling to come off the bench and help us change things up if needed.

We could be all over them in the first 25 minutes, hit the bar twice, both posts and force a number of amazing saves; they get a fluke goal and suddenly needing to find another gear. I wouldn't like to turn to the bench in that scenario and pick between Moses and Allen.

As others have said, Silva is the concern. If Sergio is playing I honestly think he'll be well off the pace of the game and struggle to make an impact. Silva, however, seems to live between the lines against every club on the planet. He's going to cause us a great deal of trouble and I'm not sure Stevie is going to be able to keep track of him all the time.

I really hope that Suarez is central; he needs to be running at Demichelis from every angle imaginable. I don't think he'd like chasing Daniel either but I don't think he's quick enough with his feet to get near Suarez. Fairly sure that Luis has been the subject of several nightmares for him this week and he'll be relieved if he sees the Uruguayan out wide.

Aarrghhh, I was going to mention this as well.

I love Flanagan and have been amazed at how well he's come on this season but he had a torrid time against West Ham last week. The level of opponent is about to go up several degrees and I'm not entirely sure how he's going to cope. I hope Sterling or someone gives him a lot of support.

Toure and Silva are the danger men. Keep them quiet and Citeh are about done. Of course we need to go out and score goals too. Liverpool 2-1 Citeh

I feel very similar to the way that I did against both United and Spurs...

I know that I should be cautious and that this team could cause us problems if they click, but I just have this overriding confidence that we're simply a better team at the moment and though I respect what they can do, I do not fear them, especially at Anfield. I'm nervous because of the magnitude of the game, not necessarily because the task is particularly daunting.

In a nutshell. Ditto. I keep reading articles on every aspect of the game .. and everytime I do I nibble away at my manly finger-nails .. all gone and the match isn't even close yet ..... well 51 hours and 9 mins anyway.

Manuel Pellegrini is blessed with three options of roughly equal quality on the right wing -- Jesus Navas, James Milner and Samir Nasri. Interestingly, they are completely different breeds, which means Manchester City's approach will be obvious by whom Pellegrini selects in that position. Navas is a pure winger, capable of beating opponents on the outside before crossing the ball. Milner is a more balanced player, a specialist at protecting his own full-back, while Nasri is about ball retention.

A meeting between Flanagan and Navas would be fantastic -- an anachronistic old-school, pure winger battling a pure full-back ...

Liverpool have scored in the first half of 23 straight games -- a phenomenal run. Bet365 goes 4-5 that they manage it against City, but just to eke out a bit more value, let’s try taking bet365’s 21-10 for there to be more goals in the first half than in the second. If Liverpool play true to recent form, then they may grab a couple in the first half and City are always dangerous, so that could work out.

I wonder. Navas is a very dangerous player, right enough, but my bet is Flanno only has to catch him once (easier said than done, admittedly) and he mightn't be so keen to have another go. Milner though, while he isn't as skilful or anywhere near as quick, can take care of himself.

What if he "catches" him and then gets red carded?

He has to ensure he stays the right side of the laws. It's quite possible to tackle like an earth remover but do so fairly, and the lad's been doing just that pretty well so far.

Yep - I'll go along with that regarding Milner. If Nasri starts that might be interesting. If he gets 'Flannoed' early - I bet he'll bitch out big time.

Certainly, but he doesn't usually spend much time out wide, and Flanno's growing reputation may persuade him to spend even less.

I have to say I'm worried about Navas or Nasri against Flanagan. Either one of them could give him a torrid time.

In fact I'm worried about their attack full stop. Oh well, let's just try and enjoy it. I think we've got a good chance.

I would say their defense should be more worried about our attack than ours should be about theirs.

Navas would be the greater danger to Flanno IMO. Nasri isn't really a wide player at all - the wing is effectively just his starting position, and I don't expect him and Flanno to be in direct opposition much if he plays. He could certainly cause us trouble but I wouldn't expect him to be doing so out wide.

Yeah, I just mean Nasri is capable of 'owning' Flanagan if he was to come up against him. I don't expect him to though.

Nasri is more likely to wander, so with picking up Silva aswell coupled with our obvious occasional issues in the DM role, he's easily the one I want to see least. That said, in many respects, Milner is hugely underrated.

Am I the only one who thinks Navas is overrated? Lots of speed but the end product often seems to fail to match up with his pace. Until his recent assist against Southampton, he's actually registered 0 goals and assists in the league since a goal against Cardiff way back in mid January.

Yeah, he's great at dancing along the sideline, and making the FB look silly but it usually ends up without end product.

I think both our fullbacks will be pushed well up to try to nullify their threat down the wings.

I expect to see that combined with Gerrard & Lucas/Allen sitting more than usual. Tbh I haven't even thought any further up the pitch than that.

With Navas, though, when a player's that quick there's always a risk involved. I always felt that was at least half the value of Lord Frodsham - opposing teams might not rate him that much, but they couldn't relax against that kind of pace.
