Think JK should play Jota as he holds his position more than Booby. The attention Jota gets gives Salah a bit more room. But the Boss might think Bobby coming deep will. at times, give us a foot in both camps so to speak. I'd rather have Jota in there, we want an attacking intensity, pace, pressure and power, We don't need to outhink or outfox Pep. JK shouldn't make this into a battle of wits.

They are vulnerable to pressure. They very rarely get put under the Kosh. So lets batter them into submission. As well as that they don't sit deep, I mean they will have to but it's not their game. With Fab, Hendo and Jones, esp Jones backing up the attack we can cut into them. Could well be Hendo's day.I fancy him to score today. A rare treat.

Gomez in today for me. He's the quickest from a standing start. So going for a 1-0...poss 1-1.
The issue is we may end up losing the midfield like that ... so the attack would hardly matter. Firmino dropping back could make the difference against Rodri / De Bruyne / Silva / Walker and Cancelo, especially as we are without the controlling force of Thiago.

I'm just being contrary ... nothing to say Jota couldn't do it too but Bobby certainly has far better control when in possession.

Like most of this, but don't see any value in starring gomez. No way he's playing better than Matip, and he's infinitely worse than Milner at RB.

Yes Matip will probably get the nod but in a last ditch situation I'd pick Gomez to save the day. Gomez will get back in at some point but the back 4 might rotate a lot more than in previous seasons. We have probably the strongest back 4 squad in Europe if not the Planet. JK will make sure he gets full value out of them.

Well that's it in a nutshell. I think Mane is in as is Mo. So It's Jota V Bobby. Bobby does drift deep at times but if we are on the front foot playing high press all out attack, we need intensity, the goal poacher in Jota, to use a term sometimes linked to Sir Roger, might be vital. Then again Bobby's cleverness and niffty interplay with Mo. Bobby reads it better than most, and he can sniff out a chance. Jota goes quiet but he's in fight or flight mode, instinct basically.

I'm going for Jota but I wouldn't put money on it.

City spent big, United spent big, ditto the plastics. Pep touched on it when he said "for decades we never competed with them" or words to that effect. We know they are where they are because of their benefactors and their spending power. We didn't spend big. It disappointed a lot of our team (supporters). I think if JK thought the owners were holding back, then he would've said so.

Today will be a huge test for our stance. It won't define our season but a defeat will damage us. And they could, if we are not on blob, beat us with plenty to spare. I don't think that will happen. Always had the feeling under Bill & Bob, Kenny as well that the mood was right. Same as on the odd occasion a defeat or a draw was no great surprise. Rambling a bit but just saying the vibes are good, be very surprised if we don't nail it today.

City with what looks to be an optimal lineup. Doesn't look like Pep has overthought it this time.

I'm glad Sterling and Mahrez are on the bench. City are looking to overrun the midfield. Pity Stones isn't playing, does panic a bit under pressure. Offered a draw..Pep would snatch yer hand off.

They're definitely going to be sitting their front five on our back four, it's going to be really really difficult to get out. That's where the game will be won or lost for me, we need to cope with that press, and our midfield need to be smart enough and brave enough to pick up on it and help out.

City clearly going for agility and creativity rather than pace or power. Big test for Milner at RB up against Grealish. Jones will have to be disciplined and switched on for the full 90 mins because City will drop bodies into midfield to create overloads and pick his pocket if he holds onto the ball too long.

Quick accurate distribution from Allison and VvD will be the key to keeping City off the front foot. They pinned Chelsea in and suffocated them using this system because Chelsea's passing lines were all shut out. We need to playbforward passes before they get set into their formation.

Chelsea couldn't build up a head of steam and it was a bit like us V Chelsea at home, second half. Pep will hustle every ball in midfield. Think we will miss Trent. They won't be playing a high press, they will sit in midfield. They will defend high. We have to give Jones his head, he has to chance his arm when he has the space.

Chelsea were down to 10 men against us 2nd half, so its not surprising they were finding it hard to get space. I think City will press very high and try to tie us up force turnovers or long hopeless passes. Jones will need to be the one with license to break the press and take on his opponent.

I didn't realise just how good City's defensive record is so far this season, I always thought Laporte and Dias looked like they could be got at, but the stats don't back that up, I'm hoping just because they've not been properly matched up yet.
