Peps gonna play exactly as he did against Chelsea, and has before against us, five players pressing ridiculously high against our back line, choking our ability to build up into midfield. It's been successful against us before, and losing Trent whos one of the more competent ball players in our team worries me a lot in this regard, both Milner and Gomez has look clumsy and slow under pressure.

I'd love to have Thiago back for this game, we're gonna need that composure in the midfield to deal with their pressure, but either way, that pressure leaves them exposed and I do think we can take advantage there. As has been mentioned already, Firmino has to start this one, I think he's a player that scares City too because of the past performances he's had against them, so it's also good for the psychological edge, also Jones has to start too after that performance yesterday, but send him out in Thiagos shirt, the kids got it all, but he's got to go out their believing it's his game to run.

Jones has it all to do too, he's had a couple of good games but this is the one where he needs to show he can step it up when needs be. He's got to play this year against the likes of Foden and Mount and not be overshadowed or intimidated by their quality and success so far. He's got to show he can eclipse that.

As for the Trent/Milner thing. Trent is indeed composed on the ball, but less composed all round when he's put under pressure, whereas Milner will know when to clear his lines and when to put a boot in, even if he doesn't probably have the yard of pace their attacker will likely have. It's a tough one to call. On the one hand Trent will provide a great outlet for the strikers to get in behind City, on the other he's been hit and miss defensively and that might put him on the back foot with his attacking play. We don't have a lot else in the locker, but I'm inclined to agree with you about Bobby, he gets under their skin and finds pockets of space against them.

It'll be a tough game, they have an abundance of firepower to call upon. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an unlikely hero from our side. Maybe a sub like Origi, or maybe the aforementioned Jones.

Interesting Gomez came on for Milner last night, easy to presume that was designed to give Milner more of a rest ahead of Sunday, but equally possible it was Klopp wanting Gomez to get more minutes under his belt and take a look at him at right back. Will be a close call between the two imo.

I'd play Joe Gomez. Speed wise he is the quickest to react for a loose ball or get a challenge in. He's good enough on the ball and with VVD I think it's our strongest central defence pairing.

On the Jota front, bring Bobby in place of Mane and that pushes Jota out wide. Jota gets in the box more than Bobby, holds his position, this keeps the defenders close to him and it gives Mo more space & time. So I'm sticking with the front 3 Mane,Jota and Salah...for now, but Mane is under pressure and low in confidence and I wouldn't be surprised if he's rested.

Mid I'm going Fab,Hendo and Jones the footballer. Handing Jones a start is a statement by JK. I like Thiago but on this occasion the confidence of youth wins the day.

Bit harsh on Brizzle this….. 😀

I know what you did. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom I can tell you I don't have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you stop making pre-match threads that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill you.

However Gomez can't cross or take FKs like Millie. If we play Joe then we're more or less delegating all crosses on the right to Hendo and City can put more emphasis on containing Robbo knowing that.

I really hate these cunts, the only thing they have ever done is stop Chelsea and Man United winning more titles pre-Klopp for us. I actually think the way to beat them is to tell TAA to not advance that forward, let Robbo play the attacking game, and let the midfield and front line do the attacking and passing. Look at the games we have beaten them and look at how reserved TAA is in those games, - it absolutely fucks their game plan up because they rely on their wingers having that empty space. I actually think Curtis is going to fuck them up bad, and Fabinho and Henderson will be well up for this game. We need to spank these cunts come Sunday, and I think we really will after last seasons collapse after Curtis was taken off.

They have so many weaknesses to exploit when they attack that I actually think they will come and play a counter-attacking game. Just watch - they will be too scared to come out at us and play a counter-attacking style against us. Because of what happened against Brentford - I think our lot will be on high alert, and out for blood.

And, he can’t play right back. He is an awful defender out there. Bizarre really.

Gomez will get injured if he plays right back like he always does. Honestly there is something wrong about him when is confined by space having to play on either edges side of the pitch. I think turning he has to do is too much for his body to take. If we play him there for 30 mins or more - he will get injured - it goes without saying.

I think Klopp should also consider how Chelsea without Lukaku contained City in the CL finals last season. City were well dominated and failed to exhibit the kind of football that wins them matches in the league. City was less able to attack and could not deploy the high line defence.

Yep - i know there is 0% chance of us experimenting but playing a 442 diamond might be an interesting approach, having an extra body in midfield. If Trent was fit, then having a midfield of Fabs Hendo Millie & Jones would give City absolutely no time on the ball but we'd be reliant on moments of magic from Mo & Mane.
