England's top clubs are chasing the hottest young property to emerge in Germany for years – Kevin Volland.
The 21-year-old winger, currently playing for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, has emerged as a genuine talent.
He is a left-footed player blessed with pace and dribbling skills and operates on the right wing for his club.
Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool have been alerted to his ability, and Tottenham have been on his case for months. The bad news for the top-flight outfits is that Bayern Munich joined the queue last week.
The youngster is rated at £12million and is under contract until 2017.
He burst on to the Bundesliga scene last season and made 30 appearances.

He has also transferred his club promise on to the international stage and has scored seven goals in 14 appearances for the Germany Under-21 team.
Volland was developed as a teenager at Munich 1860 and there’s an increasing belief in Germany that if Volland maintains his progress he could gatecrash his nation’s bid for World Cup glory next summer.
Manchester United have also been sending a delegation of scouts to watch a promising Dutch youngster, Bilal Basacikoglu at Heerenveen.
‘Bilal’, as his coach Marco van Basten prefers to call him, has been a revelation in Dutch football since the 18-year-old made his first-team debut three weeks ago.

Read that we're following Caulker very closely as a long term target.
Maybe we see him as Skrtels replacement and Sakhos partner.

I find that very hard to believe given that he went for a couple million more than Illori in the summer. If we were that interested, we'd have signed him then.

He went for twice the fee, 8 mill. We paid 4 mill for Ilori, add ons can make it 7 mill.

Not that it matters particularly but I thought we paid 6M for Illori.

Point is we spent our money in the summer. If we go spend another massive wedge on a CB Rodgers needs his head examining.

Yeah, I agree. It wasnt talked about as a January signing though. More a next summer move if Agger/Skrtel are off.
