Don't you just love it when you can't get enough of the team. I should actually focus on several other things going on atm but I just can't wait for the next game.
Fucking great being a Liverpool fan at the moment.
Imagine being an Everton fan and just drawing City in the LC Semis. They are not happy having posted their January schedule 😀

Spurs 3rd January
City 6th January
City 13th January
Chelsea 16th January
Swansea 24th January
City 27th January

Love this quote from RedCafe :

Liverpool spent 300M over the last 3-4 years. It´s nearly impossible to spend 300M and only buy trash. They have a good squad. They hammered Southhampton without starting Mignolet, Clyne, Sakho, Gomez, Milner, Henderson, Ibe, Firmino, Coutinho, Benteke and Ings. That´s basically a full starting 11. You really telling me their players are average?
Oh this is the quote of the week. Wihoo, under the right manager it's true!
It makes me think - how much has the value of the squad gone up since Klopp arrived? Several players look significantly better - players written off are showing why we paid what we did for them. The club is in a much better position.

wow

Didn't see the game.

Sounds like we were all over the place for the first 20?

We literally created nothing in the first 30 minutes apart from the two Sturridge goals. The only other thing I remember from that period is that Lallana produced the worst corner by any LFC player since Aspas.

All I remember from the whole game was a great performance in which we put six past a team at the their ground and who we couldn't beat a few weeks ago.

Just looking at the stats, 7 shots on target 6 goals.

Clinical.

With our new pressing style, squad rotation will be a must as we march to four trophies, so its great to see we can play a mostly 2nd string side and still spank a decent side.

Granted it was away from home which suits our style better but still highly impressive.

How did Lucas and Allen play?

They bossed the MF.
Lucas looked very confident, and Allen had one of his best games for us,

Origi finding his groove means a diamond is very much an option for us now that Sturridge and Bentenke are fit and Firmino showing he can play upfront too. Our depth in midfield and attack is getting competitive.

It looks like we were very clinical. I saw the second half 3 goals we scored; after listening to the radio for the first half. What can I say - I said it was a shit team when I saw the lineup so the fact that we went down 1-0 within the first few minutes was no surprise. But oh the come back - there is a German streak in our mentality where we are keeping calm under heavy adversity then slap bang and we are killing them. The players we have seem to have the talent we keep saying we are missing - the ones we were expecting to come good are now playing at a level we have not seen before. I actually don't know what our best team is now.

Happy for the goal feast, now I really believe Klopp will bring the 19th to us soon.
Anyway out of the 5 games under Klopp at Anfield,we scored only one goal in 4 of them,2 against Bordeaux,
Looking forward to seeing much more better scorelines !
I was going to welcome you then I noticed you've been here since 2011! One post???? More effort, man, more effort.

I think our players are over performing - they are not as good as we saw them tonight. They are shit - all of them. Just got lucky by scoring - shame it is not the PL. But we shall see - if they can score 10 past Newcastle this weekend.

Little shout out to Lallana and Joe Allen. Good lads, really good lads. Both were fucking boss tonight. Joe in particular was marvellous.

That was Liverpool without Mignolet, Clyne, Sakho, Milner, Firmino, Benteke and Coutinho

Also, this black strip is by far the best away one we've had in a long time.

Two things:

- having suddenly found some squad depth, the pressing game might not kill us and if we can start to harry teams at home we'll be scoring from their mistakes

- I love that the draw has given us the chance to beat that little shitrag in the final and wave the trophy under his greedy little nose.

Some random thoughts on the game:
  • I was wrong about the formation pre-match – we really played the "diamond" rather than 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 I thought we would play. This is surprising to me because Klopp has been pretty loyal to 4-2-3-1 in his time at Dortmund, but here at LFC he is showing his tactical flexibility with 3 different formations in two months here. I don't really recall him playing with 2 out-and-out strikers from the start at Borussia – usually if there was a second striker he would be deployed on the wing. I'm not insisting that's never happened, just that I never saw it in the games or highlights of games that I saw when I was following them.
  • Can was partly at fault for the goal we conceded – he was rash in guessing that Bertrand would cross first time, went all in to block non-existing cross, which gave RB all the time in the world to whip in a perfect cross on Mane's head. Can needs to learn to react to the opponent's actions when defending rather than guessing and this is a good illustration of what happens when your guess is wrong. On the contrary I wouldn't blame Moreno for the goal – fullbacks will always be beaten by larger and more powerful forwards on the far post, that's just an inherent weakness in every defense, unless you play a 2-meter giant like Marcell Jansen on each wing. Also there was almost a copy-cat goal by Wanyama a couple of minutes later and that time I thought Allen was at fault for not going with his man and giving him a free header on goal – fortunately it was straight at Bogdan. Could have been easily 2:0.
  • Allen's and Can's passes were both exquisite. Allen gets extra points for passing the ball first time on the bounce and Can for making 2 lightning-quick decisions in a row: first to make space by changing direction and then somehow in half a second seeing Sturridge's run (the ball left Can's boot at exactly the same moment Sturridge raised his arm asking for the pass) and having the presence of mind (not to mention the technique) to immediately whip an inch-perfect ball with the outside of the boot. These are just beautiful football moments to savor; if we called slow, deliberate possession "death by football" then this is "murder by football", because it happens so quickly and suddenly.
  • Origi was involved literally in everything we created today, including the first half. First he had a dangerous shot from a corner, but was possibly knocked off balance by Lovren going for the same ball and barging into his back. Then first goal – Origi passes the ball to Allen on the right touchline and makes a dart down the wing, but Allen chooses an even better option. Second goal – Origi wins the header, knocking the ball down for Lallana and Can. Fifth goal – held up the ball smartly and played a nice back-heel to release Moreno (who crossed for Ibe to score). He scored the other 3. Who says this guy is not a footballer?
  • To tally up the attacking contribution of our players in this game:
Origi: 3 goals, 2 secondary assists
Sturridge: 2 goals
Ibe: 1 goal, 1 assist
Moreno: 2 assists
Allen: 1 assist, 1 secondary assist
Can, Smith: 1 assist each
Lallana: 2 secondary assists
Lovren: 1 secondary assist
