Football hipsters rejoice - the coolest man in football has been linked with a move toLiverpool FC.
Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo is said to be a target for Brendan Rodgers after the player admitted he's considering his future at Juventus.
Pirlo, at 36, doesn't exactly fit into FSG's model of buying young, but that doesn't stop numerous outlets reporting that Liverpool are considering taking the midfielder on a short term deal in the summer.
Pirlo admitted he doesn't know where his future lies - but says he would like to finish his "Juventus story by pocketing the Champions League" after Juventus beat Real Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final.
He said: "Ending my Juventus story by pocketing the Champions League would be a dream come true.
"But I won't stop playing, I'll go on as long as I have the same great desire to keep training every day."
"I wouldn't go to another Italian team. Juventus will be my last Serie A team, whatever happens. MLS could be an idea, but for the moment I don't have anything, Juve are the only thing on my mind."

Liverpool fans feeling blue about Memphis may find this next rumour a little comforting - because Liverpool have been linked with proven Premier League goalscorer Christian Benteke.
The big Belgian is said to be a target for Liverpool according to a report in The Times, and after banging in 48 goals inu 97 games in a three-year spell at Aston Villa, he's proven he can score goals in the Premier League.
Martin Skrtel will no doubt be hoping the rumour comes true, because then the only time he can give him the runaround will be in training.
And finally, time for a rumour about a player nobody has ever heard of, but it will excite you anyway.
Reports suggest Paul Georges Ntep has been given a tour around Melwood.
No, us neither.
Anyway, he's a 22-year-old pacey forward who currently plays for Rennes, in the French Ligue 1. He's scored 14 goals in 35 games for Rennes and has reportedly been scouted by Arsenal - along with every other player in France, of course.
According to reports in L'Equipe, Ntep has visited Liverpool's Melwood training ground and is keen to sign for the club in the close season.

C/O: I know what you mean, but no thanks. Pirlo's quality is undeniable but I can't see him fitting into Rodgers' style. If anyone's response is that that's an indictment of Rodgers' style - quite possibly, but it's how we're going to play as long as Rodgers is manager.

Besides, he's Italian. With our history, signing another one - even Pirlo - would absolutely be a triumph of hope over experience.

Just because our club can't consistently figure out which players from another league would translate here is not a reason to rule out everyone who is Italian. Pirlo wouldn't fit here cause he isn't mobile enough or good enough defensively to play a holding role in the PL with out him getting completely exposed. We might as well just keep Gerrard at DM until he's 50, if we want to go down that road.

From my limited knowledge, Marchisio and Verratti would probably translate well to the league.

Absolutely agree JJ, it would most likely be a terrible, costly (wages) signing, but I'm a football romantic.

I'd have us sign Ronaldinho tomorrow just to see it.
