Normally I'd only promote talent that is yet to be unearthed at a big club - as we normally won't have the pulling power to convince say youngsters already at Bayern Munich or Chelsea to make the swap, however I will make an exception with this lad as I have mentioned him over the past years on here on and off and he is now being linked with a move to Arsenal.
Patrick Olsen, 19, Central Midfielder
Club: Internazionale
From first sight it was quite obvious that this young lad could pick a pass like few I have seen at this age. And this time around we are not talking the 2-yarder, Barca-inspired well-weighted tippy-tappy pass but more so the Alonso/Gerrard across the pith pile-driver.
Receiving the ball at his feet, turning on the ball, whilst hitting the ball 40 yards into the chest of a winger. All more or less in the same move. That's how he got my attention playing for the Danish U17 team.
Strong in tackle, dynamic in movement, can shoot from a distance and pretty much loves to be the center of attention. Has immense belief in himself and come across as a not so humble lad. Which could be his main struggle, knowing how players before him has had too high thoughts of themselves, compared at least to the effort they've made on the pitch - and off it. I have faith in Rodgers however when it comes to players with this kind of personality.
Olsen has already got his unofficial debut for Inter in the Serie A playing almost a full 90 minutes against Juve in one of the last tests of the Season. Have rejected loan moves to lesser Serie A teams as he wants to fight his way into the Inter first team.
He may not be quite ready for the first team yet but we should look no further if we were to look for a player with great potential, who could eventually and with a bit of luck be our focal point in central midfield. Both good defensively as well as an creative outlet as well. And those passes, our amazingly powerful and fast front line as of today would love them to bits.
