I think posters are marginally inflating Suarez and significantly underrating Ronaldo and Messi in order to put the three of them in the same bracket. As great as a player Suarez is, it is unfair to put the three together.

For example, one poster above states that Suarez is among the few who cost more than 75 million and still appear a bargain. That is a slightly incorrect argument as Ronaldo and Messi, if they moved now, they would go in excess of 150 or maybe even 200. We really cannot bracket the three together as I am sure Suarez's transfer fee would be closer to Lallana and Carroll than the hypothetical transfer fee for Ronaldo and Messi. Ronaldo and Messi are constantly hitting 50-60 plus goals and they are on the downward trajectory of their careers and Suarez has not come close to that at his best season for us.

Another poster states that Suarez is more competitive than Ronaldo. Seriously? I have never seen a more focused and competitive footballer than Ronaldo. In addition to this talent, the biggest reason for this success is his single minded devotion to football. He is an arrogant asshole but he lives and breathes the game. There is a reason why he is approaching 30 and still among the fittest footballers on the planet. Just because Suarez bites and punches and shows emotions on the field, doesnt make him more competitive.

How about admitting Suarez is world class along with 20 to 30 other players but Messi and Ronaldo are upper world class. The whole thing is completely fatuous anyway.

The fact of the matter is that Suarez is one of your blindspots Ross, nothing to be ashamed of, we all have them.

He only scores against shit teams, apart from when he's playing alongside better players?

Drugs eh?

Bloody hell.. So..
Not one player was world class when Pele was playing, not even Best.
No player was world class when Maradona was playing either..
19 goals and 15 assists, having missed 3 months of the season is insanely good.

So basically, Suarez is unfortunate to be playing at a time when two of the best players of all time are also playing, ergo, he isn't World Class.

No, if you want to call him world class that's fine. But you're demeaning Messi and Ronaldo if they're only world class too. Given they're about twice as effective as him

I think Suarez could make it to the same bracket as Ronald and Messy if he wasn't a fucking mentalist.

Is Ronaldo though? Good though he is he is the focus for the entire side. Messi is just so much better, so Messi Super dupa upper world class, Ronaldo upper world class, Suarez plain old world class.

What's the bracket below where Suarez is at then?
Who's at the same level as him performance wise?
He's clearly the 3rd best player in the world so if he's not in the same bracket as Messi and Ronaldo then where does that leave your Robben's,Bale's and the likes.
They must be only average so.

Is he clearly the third best player in the world?

Clearly better than Hazard, Pogba, Rodriguez etc?

But Messi's Argie left leg is so much better than his right....it should be in a different class above super duper worldclass.

Rosco needs to get a grip and stop talking like a village idiot on this subject....

Says the man who thinks a striker scoring half as much as two other players is any way equal to them.

Hard luck

Who cares

Ha ha This^^^^

I watched with glee him making a tit out of Luiz. I'm genuinely really pleased things are going ok for him at Barca. I won't go out of my way to watch a Barca game but when I do I cheer the bitey bellend on. Fantastic player.

Which Rodriguez is this? James? Isco is better than him, forget Suarez.

In terms of attacking players in the world, the closest to Suarez in that second rung are Aguero, Hazard, Bale, Neymar and Sanchez. Suarez shades them by a small margin.

Rooney, Costa, Benzema, Tevez are in the rung below.

Zlatan and Robben in their prime however were probably level with Suarez.

I'll just add. Of the players I've seen since I started watching football (1998), there are only about 7-8 that I'd pick before Suarez (when it comes to picking the great all-around attacking players of our generation i.e. great at both goal-scoring and goal-creating):

Messi
Ronaldo
Fat Ronaldo
Henry
Ronaldinho
Raul
Rivaldo

Suarez is in the next level alongside Totti, Rooney, Bergkamp, Zlatan, Drogba, Robben. You could make a reasonable pitch for any of them to be ahead of Suarez as well, but I think he’s pretty much at par.

How is that not a world class player?

P.S. - I'm not counting the likes of Shearer, Horseface, Shevchenko, Aguero, Torres, Owen, Eto'o, Villa who are/were great goalscorers, but not as well-rounded as the ones above.

I have a soft spot for Bergkamp, but he is not better than Suarez at football.

Wayne Rooney is several rungs below.

Players like Suarez who have the ability to get their teams to punch above their weight is a rare commodity.

Stevie had it, but if could have replicated whatheshowed for Liverpool for England the neutrals would be talking about him differently.

You cannot level such crticisms against Suarez....he has managed to perform in every stage given to him.
