Why would we want to protect Lucas? I wouldn't play him at all. I'd hope that someone like Stewart could come in and show he's worth a place.
There's also the option of dropping Lallana and Coutinho a bit further back, and making up a three with any of Stewart, Milner or Allen
I'd also go with Stewart if possible, I was ready to send Lucas off to the Bolton's after that foul in the last minute of the Dortmund game.

I don't mind Lucas but the problem is always those stupid fouls he does outside our box or gives the opportunity in the dying seconds to score from a dangerous area. He nearly fucked up the other night in the last minute and definitely caused us shit in the FA cup tie at West Ham. Why does he fucking do that in nearly every game ?

They both played well the other night.
Allen was boss when he came on. He was moving forward well and had a bit of urgency to him. Can was still on the pitch though. I'm expecting Lucas to replace him.
I'm sure the squad will have the belief that they can progress despite Can's absence. I don't think it's quite the body blow some comments suggest.

You mean the foul he made in the last minute when all our other player shit their pants and backed off. Lucas had to make that foul because our other players as I said backed off. No one attacked the Dortmund player, no one. One of our players had a chance to make a foul a couple of seconds earlier but didn't want to risk a booking. The Dortmund player at full speed had a clear run into our box but Lucas stopped him.
Lucas is our best team player. He won't care if he is booked and miss a key game because of it. The team will always come first.
Sometimes you must make a foul. This time Lucas had to do it.
You simply ignore time after time after time why Lucas make the fouls. Time after time he must make them because all our other midfielders are shit tacklers. Can is a very good player but the physical bit isn't one of his strenghts. The reason to why we have problems against physical teams..........I think you have figuered it out now.
Stewart isn't a fantastic players but at least he make tackles instead of backing off.
Even when Lucas make fantastic plays as the tackle he made and stopped the attack he get blamed. That tackle most probably saved a goal. That tackle probably won us the game.
The big reason to why we dropped so many points from a leading position is that instead of making fouls and break up the play we let the game flow. Instead of getting so many counter attacks against us we must be must better to break up the play and make fouls before they get close to our box. Lucas is more or less our player that make that sort of fouls.
