No Can do

You are literally redefining the laws of physics to assist Lucas.

No but a lot of you do that so you can blame him. It is actually funny to read all that you lot imagine up to blame Lucas.

He also got it wrong about the Milner touch. It wasn't a bad touch. He made the touch that long so it would be more difficult to block the cross but I'm not surprised that he imagined that up.

I have still not got an answer to how many penalties Lucas have given away in his whole career with us. He give away freekicks, not penalties. That is very big difference.

Is it easy to score from a freekick? The answer is that it is very difficult to score from a freekick even if it is close to the box. It is ok to give away a freekick even if it is close to the box.

I doubt that any player have ever scored 10+ goals a single season from a freekick. That show how difficult it is.

If someone listen to you then it sounds like it is the easiest thing in the world to score from a freekick.

To be fair I can't think of any pk Lucas has given away.
However another lovable Liverpool character gave away plenty and a few own goals too. (In finals)

Probably because Lucas is too slow to catch them when they're at the box. He does his kicking the second he's easily turned

And also, Lucas isn't as good as some of those others you mention

What you totally ignore is that it is because of the foul that the Dortmund player get a bad touch on the ball. If he hadn't been fouled then the pass would have been very easy.

But it is easier to blame Lucas. If he hadn't been fouled then all he had to do was to pass the ball four, five yards to the right, it wouldn't even had to be close to Aubameyang.

Clyne was on the wrong side of Aubameyang.

You are so blinded by your love of Lucas that you overlook his faults ... It's ok ... I get it ... but if you WATCH the play again, the ball is GONE once Lucas fouls him ...
But it is easier to blame everyone but Lucas ...
Clyne was fine.

Or maybe he is clever enough to know that you foul players outside the box, not inside it.

Maybe he is that good you know. You don't top the tackles stats the last five seasons or so if you aren't a top class defensive player. One season could be luck, maybe even two but not when you top the tackle stats year in year out and that in the PL.

Look at his stats for tackles made and tackles won. That is impressive to say the least.

Clyne wasn't fine. Aubameyang had a free run into our box. If Clyne would have been fine then he would force the player out wide. Guess what, he don't. Maybe you should look at the incident again. You clearly need it. I would also add that the ball wasn't gone when Lucas made the foul. You imagined that one up.

Many of you also imagined up that he is shit in air. He has showed that he is one of our best players in the air. No problems at all.

Take a step back ... and realize that from the get go, you were defending Lucas because you cannot take it when there is ANY criticism of him ...

Arn, "You mean the foul he made in the last minute when all our other player shit their pants and backed off"

He was trailing the play with our other two CMs because he was OUT OF POSITION. Studge was tracking Schmelzer - and the back line seems ok.

Arn, 'Lucas had to make that foul because our other players as I said backed off."

No, Lucas didn't have to 'make that foul' ... He made the foul because he made a mistake, especially after the player lost the ball. It happens.

Arn, "No one attacked the Dortmund player, no one."

Studge did exactly what Lucas did, bar the fouling - so is that 'no one'? Lovren was going after him, so again 'no one' is not right.

Arn, "One of our players had a chance to make a foul a couple of seconds earlier but didn't want to risk a booking."

Again, your love of this player fails to notice that Studge was trying to harass him (he's a forward, not a DM). I don't know why he wouldn't risk a booking - would he be banned for the next game?

Arn, "The Dortmund player at full speed had a clear run into our box but Lucas stopped him."

Absolute bullshit. As you see above - Lovren is a step away - and you tell me I need to watch it again!??!

Lucas is our best team player. He won't care if he is booked and miss a key game because of it. The team will always come first.

Sometimes you must make a foul. This time Lucas had to do it.

You simply ignore time after time after time why Lucas make the fouls. Time after time he must make them because all our other midfielders are shit tacklers. Can is a very good player but the physical bit isn't one of his strenghts. The reason to why we have problems against physical teams..........I think you have figuered it out now.

Stewart isn't a fantastic players but at least he make tackles instead of backing off.

Even when Lucas make fantastic plays as the tackle he made and stopped the attack he get blamed. That tackle most probably saved a goal. That tackle probably won us the game.

Are you still banging this fucking drum Arn? Lucas the victim. How many freekicks did we give away in dangerous areas prior to his introduction? The player he took down had it all to do with players arond him who were not diving in, but were restricting the space he had to punish us. Lucas' tackle very nearly saw us knocked out with the last kick of the game. Just like the West Ham match where it cost us because he dived in again. He's a liability, not some poorly misunderstood defensive lynch pin.

"The tackle probably won us the game", fucking hell. I thought I'd seem some bias on here towards managers/players, but that takes the biscuit.

Lucas won us the game everyone!

Seriously though, doesn't Sakho's position before Lucas gave away the free kick bother anyone?

I think Arn has a point. Before Aubameyang scored we had a chance to stop the counter if someone fouled the Dortmund mid. Same actually goes for Mikhis goal.
Btw reading @Arn post made me think again abt Lucas's tackle. It appeared unnecessary at the time but in retrospect may have won us the game. Not that he should be giving away such FK in a dangerous area...

I reached the same conclusion

Against West Ham he gave away the freekick around 20 yards or so from the box out wide. That isn't a dangerous position. That is a tackle made to break up the play. A tackle more of our players should be making at the end of the games. Excellent decision and it isn't his fault that we are shit defending crosses.

I actually agree with you ... The free kick wasn't dangerous (against whu) - it was a stupid, rash challenge though which made no sense but it wasn't in a dangerous position and it was just a fantastic ball from Payet and (I think if memory serves me well) a really good jump from Ogbonna ... shit happened.
