Now that Carra's going, who should get it? I'd give it to Suarez. If Lucas recovers his old form, I'd be happy with him as well.

Luis, Followed by Glenjo

Odd choice for Johnson I know, but he seems popular off the pitch, a bit vocal, can help change a game, and has shown good commitment to us as he's improved immeasurably during his spell here.

Interesting. I can see the logic of that.

+1 for Johnson, he's mature and I think he'd respond well to the responsibility. I'm not sure if Suarez is the man you want to be getting involved in everything at the moment he's inspirational which is good but level headed on the pitch he is not.

Depending on their futures, the centre backs and Reina would be the obvious choices.

Both captains of their country, although very different in style. I wouldn't mind Agger.
I've said agger in the past, and I'm still thinking of it because I'm hopeful he'll pull himself out of his dire run he's in (and tbh, we've not got many good candidates really..), but I'd prefer Johnson atm

I think Glojo is an interesting shout. Him, Agger and Suarez should definitely be in the mix.

I'd go with Agger or Lucas. I think Rodgers will go with Lucas or Suarez if it's uncertain that Reina will stick around, otherwise Reina probably gets the VC role as the most senior player after Gerrard.

Agree with this. It's got to be Luis (English skills permitting) followed by Glenjo.

I don't like keepers as captains. They can't deal with refs, which is about the one bit of reliable influence captains have these days. (And as a big critic of Gerrard as captain, I must say he deals with refs really well - he's saved masses of yellow and red cards over the past few years by getting in there quickly and sorting it out.)

I would have said Reina but I imagine he's off in the summer.

The only viable candidates are Johnson and Suarez as you need a guaranteed first teamer and they are the only two IMO. I think Agger needs to buck his ideas up and it wouldn't surprise me to see Skrtel leave.

Glenjo seems sound but I'd give it to Suarez to reflect his higher importance to the team.

He's definitely done more of that this season. I think he's been a bit guilty of not trying to influence the ref in the past. Maybe the England captaincy has spurred him on.

Skrtel or Agger. Who knows, it might inspire them to do better.

I don't think you give the captaincy to someone in the hope that they'll inspire people. I think you give the captaincy to someone who does that already.

I meant it might inspire them [Skrtel or Agger] to do better, not for them to inspire others. It wasn't a properly serious suggestion, it just fitted well with the debate that rages elsewhere about these two players.

If the business between him and Rodgers has been sorted, I'd give it to Skrtel. He's worn the armband before, he visibly loved doing so and I'm thinking he's one player whose game could actually benefit from his carrying more explicit responsibility.

Otherwise Magic's a good shout.

I normally prefer a midfielder as they get more of the play, so Lucas.

If he is still playing shit, then Agger, Magic, Skittles Suarez in that order of preference.

But we all know its going to be Joe Allen....

It's fairly obvious I would have thought Suarez was captain the other week when Carra Stevie and Pepe were not playing. Were the other candidates available?

It's the sort of thing Suarez would appreciate.

regards

Gary did a funny!

It's that time of year, ha.

On a serious note, Johnson is a decent shout.
I've never been his biggest fan as a player but he's undoutedly had a cracking season, he seems very popular with everyone at the Club and more responsibility could see his performances improve further.
