Didn't make the bench. Wisdom picked ahead.

He's 23 now (I was genuinely surprised by that!), injuries have hampered him, but how much should we read into his omission?

I always thought he could be decent at cb, if given the chance. However, it looks highly unlikely he will have that opportunity, what with all the cb's were linked with and Wisdom.

He could still make a decent back-up full back, but I don't think he has enough in his locker to be a first choice fullback with attacking prowess.

What does the future hold for him?

Captain of the ressies tonight. As far as I'm concerned he's got a future as CB unless his body fails to get over these injuries.

The lad needs games, it may do no harm to loan him out for a few months, until Christmas at least.. On his day he is a beast of a player...

Given his injury history, I think CB is his viable long-term position as his body probably can't take the punishing physicality of a modern fullback. And he has all the attributes to be a mildly-to-wildly successful one.

Never seen him really play that position, and wisdom is a better prospect I think. Not sure he will be given the chance to play cb at lfc.

Yeah, other than his injuries, his lack of top-level experience at centreback is holding him back as well. Wisdom is ahead of him in that regard.

If his hamstrings hold up I think he's a better full back. He has enough pace, is a good crosser, times his runs from deep well and can score occasionally.

Other than his height, I've never seen anything to suggest he's better suited in the centre. He doesn't seem to have the instincts for it

I wouldn't mind seeing him at RB and Johnson in a more advanced role in some cup matches this season

What has he done to impress people? Bar hype, I've not seen a lot to get wildly excited about.

He looked at bit shakey at times tonight for the U21 in that position.. Time will tell if that position is made for him or not.

The lad needs an injury free run of games. Everytime he runs into decent form he goes and gets injured. Hopefully that's behind him now. Loaning him out is probably the best move for all parties involved.

Aye Kelly defo needs to kick on this season.

He'll probably get a game next Tuesday night in the League Cup.

Neither Kelly nor Wisdom are good enough for our 1st team CB, nor will they ever be IMHO. I do like Kelly at RB though.

He and Wisdom will be, as far as I'm concerned. It's far too premature to write them off. I don't recall many people looking at Carra at right back or left back and arguing he was going to become a top class CB. And he only moved there after about seven years in the first team.

Kelly just gets injured too much to make it at the top for me.
Hes got loads in his locker but we never get to see it. Im 100% certain if he hadnt been injured the last three or four years he would be in our starting 11 either at RB or CB right now.
