Man Utd Away Build Up Thread

Would it be too much to ask if Suarez scored for him to run over to Ferguscum and do the whole You Don't Fuck With The Jesus dance off Lebowski, complete with hip thrusts to the face?

He would get arrested for threatening behaviour and then be labelled a pederast.

Not confident on this one at all. I just want to get it over with and look toward Norwich the following week, and Oldham the week after.

Can't believe some of you are calling for Shelvey to start. Webb will have an itchy trigger finger as per, and we don't need Shelvey flying in with one of his trademark reckless tackles at OT and risking picking up a red.

We were extremely unlucky to come away from the game at Anfield with nothing and starved them of the ball for long periods. I think we'll have to keep the ball very well again to get anything this time around, as United are devastating in attack at times and RVP is on fucking fire. I don't think Sturridge is fully fit so I wouldn't start him here. Downing's been playing alright lately, so I'd give him the nod, but if he puts in another fucking bottlers performance against Man United he should be killed. It would be nice to have some attacking qualityin Sturridge on the bench too. I'm guessing that Rodgers is going to give Wisdom the nod with Enrique out, but much as I like him, I think he could struggle. We don't have a lot of options though as Rodgers doesn't seem overly keen on Robinson/Flannagan. I'd probably go with Henderson over Allen, as he seems to cover more ground and is pretty decent at keeping the ball too. Allen could always come on for him or Lucas during the second half.

--------Gerrard----------Lucas------Henderson

-----Sterling----------Suarez-------------Downing

We've a handful of options on the bench too with Sturridge, Suso, Allen and Jonjo, plus Carra, Jones and maybe a full back.

Indeed.

Although to be fair, 10 men could be a better option than 10 men + Shelvey.

I'd go for Adian's team but with Allen starting instead of Hendo

Sturridge to come on in second half.. Also wouldn't be surprised to see DS start and then be subbed early..

Come on now. Throw him into the deep end like that against ManU? At OT? You having a laugh?
It doesn't even merit a discussion. The kid is good and has all the time in the world.
The name Rob Jones comes to mind. He did alright. But I'd pick Wisdom.

Let's be honest here. Since Lucas has come back from injury he's looked nothing like the 6-7 times last season where he was good.....

The point people miss about Lucas is that even though he need time to build up his match freshness, he still add something defensively which none of the other does. And in a game were we have to believe they might have equal possesion as us we need someone who knows how to win the ball back. Although Lucas has not been brilliant in this department since his return, the others have been extremelly shit it that department when he was away. Midfiled battle and destroying the opposition play will be key to this game, and the "system" will probably have to be set aside in favour of breakdowns and counter attacks when we have the opportunity. In such case, the ability to cover meter and closing down opposition will be more importnat for midfielders than passing the ball sideways. Henderson and Lucas for me there with Gerrard in front of them.

I also have noticed that since Downing finally got his goal, he has for some strange reason dipped in form again. The confidence boost seem to have been replaced with fear for not following up properly. The man must have mental strength equal to a mosquito. I would not start him, and rather have the pace of Suarez, Sterling and Sturridge. They might not be as defensive as Downing can be, but again, their full backs will be more afraid to leave their side exposed to the pace of those three, so we might see more defensive fullbacks than usual if we play them.

Depends.

If we're playing a mobile midfield 3 then yes, wisdom all day at RB, as they'll help A LOT with closing down young.

If we're playing a static/slow midfield 3 then i'd prefer downing, as valencia/nani have been shocking for a while.

Young is the concern, but if hendo helps wisdom then we SHOULD be ok

I would disagree with this, since his goal he's put in a few solid perfomances. Sadly, we've still only had suarez to aim at in the box and crossing opportunities get wasted because of it

How about this for a team?

Reina

Wisdom---Skytel---Dagger---Magic

Hendo--------------Allen

Gerrard

Sterling------- Suarez--------Sturridge
