I dont think Clyne will ever play that bad again. It was fucking unreal.

I think Martial's excellent performance had something to do with it. He is bloody hard to stop when on form like tonight. By far the best player in that garbage of a team.

First half was bad - we were nervy as fuck and that's something which Klopp needs to address. We have to stop freezing in our minds and balls in the big games and start turning up early more regularly in them. Need to get that fixed if we want to win things.

Otherwise, echoing the compliments already paid to Can, Lovren, Sakho and Milner. Mignolet with an important early save that could've given us even more early jitters. Front three wasn't in their element today, but what a cheeky goal by Coutinho. His pass to Henderson and that Brazilian weave in the second half should've resulted in goals too.

Sturbridge needs to change his attitude. He seems to be only interested in himself. A great team effort over two legs and he should more interested in the team ethnic. A great result, what a night

He really cannot hold the ball up - nearly always he is giving it away up front

Coutinho.. Suarez esq tonight, sublime cheeky goal..

Keep that up consistently, we have a player on our hands.. Need to become more than a luxury player

Tremendous from him tonight, rolled back the years..

Gotta love him:

That may be the last time we see Manchester United in a European competition for many years

Yes

I've done it once, on your birthday actually. I was young and silly. And we got spat at on the way to the ground. So it's ok in my eyes.
I remember that game. Month before you said you'd sort me a ticket. Never happened

With hindsight probably wise. Seats would no doubt break before I intentionally tried

I remember walking into the bogs and the sinks were already kicked off the wall, a toilet door had been pulled off and smashed through a snackbar shutter and the place was a mess.

I thought I'd help them out with the insurance claim.

It was your 18th so 2004 when we won there. Murphy penalty?

I'll take you there someday and you can break a seat of your own. Like a ritual you need to pass before you become one of us.

The pundits are finally acknowledging what I've always said: Fellaini is a thug, plain and simple. It's hugely therapeutic, I've hated that twat for years.

Yeah, his capacity to get away with his thuggery has been infuriating.

A few thoughts:

  • tough to tell if Clyne was that bad, or Martial just had a great night. Martial, despite oozing talent, is not going to be the goalscorer many thought he'd be imo.
  • Solid performance by Sakho and Lovren, though I don't think they were that challenged.
  • Milner showed - to me at least - why he is an important player in this team. He's a leader, and he gives 110% wherever he plays ... Fantastic shift at LB.
  • Disappoitned for Coutinho - yes, great goal but he really should have had a hat trick ...
  • Though Can was dominating in the middle.
  • Lallana was very solid, as was Firmino. Not great in the final 1/3 but non-stop pressure on their team.
  • Studge - don't think he has a future here. He seems fit, and the talent is still there, but does he fit the system? He comes off - as he always has - as lazy ...

Yeah, his capacity to get away with his thuggery has been infuriating.

It's one reason why I find the outrage over spitting so OTT. I'd rather that any day than an elbow in the face. I'm amazed it's taken this long for people to focus on what this psycho gets up to. Hell, even Howard Webb called him a thug!

The best thing about that Coutinho goal is the lack of urgency from the United players running back.

You can almost see their thought process as it unfolds.

'We've got this, we've got this, it's okay, it's okay'.

'Whoa hang on'

'Shit'

'We're out'.
