Match Thread Man City (A) - Sun Feb 23rd 16:30

I wonder if we'll rotate against Newcastle? TAA looked knackered at the end today? Will he have enough gas to go again, against Gordon and Newcastle?

We saw what happened when we played Quansah against Gordon at St James Park. We got cooked and couldn't play out against their press.
Yet was still a game we should've won. Trent isn't knackered, he barely runs.

Bit like last season, it'll be a whole different ball game at Anfield.

Well Slot brought on TAA for the last 30mins. Will he do that same at Anfield? Or start him and take him off after 60?

The good thing is we'll have a week's break after this game.

Trent and Robbo should both start on the bench. Or at least Robbo for sure. If Trent can give 60 mins, would be good.

Newcastle might be knackered too and i wonder if either manager wants to hide their hand before the final.

Anyway I’ll fire up a place to discuss such things

Wasn't Trent nursing a little knock to keep him from starting that? Think we've seen the last of Quansah starting any games of significance anyway and it's unlikely Bradley will be back in time soooo....

Thought Gakpo wasn't fit - he looked awful. Shouldn't have been on the pitch ... and didn't look like he wanted to be !

What was he supposed to do? We passed the ball about 5 times in the time he was on. Probably told by Arne to keep the defensive shape and that's it.

It wasn't that - he was slow to react on maybe 3 occasions. He simply wasn't at the races. He shouldn't have been on the pitch, we should have used Nunez. But no harm no foul.

He was on for 10 mins, what races is he supposed to be at in that time exactly. Arne clearly thought differently.

Kostas and Gakpo came on and helped us see the game out, we didn't see Savio once after that. All the subs were positive in keeping our shape and discipline.

Sigh. Go back and watch the last 10 mins. It'll then be obvious - even for you.

Just watched it back.

He did fine 👍

Anyway forget the game......what are the xG stats saying, I know you have a hard on for these things.

They’ll be knackered too.

Interesting to see that Trent got fleeced 75% of the time. Doku is a powerful runner.
Interesting to see that even though we comfortably won at Citeh's ground people can't help but look for a negative. It's not just you, a few were saying he didn't run today which is balls. Yeah he was beaten but he was also using the white line as another defender, Doku had to turn back numerous times.

Not looking for a negative but just leery of weak points as I would be concerned they will be used against us in upcoming games.

But you raise a fair point. Fantastic pass for the second goal. Can’t lose sight of that.

Just concerned a better winger than Doku will not only beat him time and again but show some end product.

Haha OK well I can't remember off hand but it was 0.63 vs 0.75 or summat. Though I know this is just a diversionary tactic 🤣
