Match Thread Man City (A) - Sun Feb 23rd 16:30

Thats the difficult discussion regarding Trent. As you get a player that isn't the best at defending and you have to accept that he at times will be a liability, but then you get the best passer of the ball in the league and a right back that creates, assists, scores and is a major reason your team wins games.

We'll be a better team defensively without Trent, but Slot will need to be creative to find a solution for the rest that he brings.
The thing is Bradders brings threat too in his own way. He played the ball of the game as soon as he came on against Villa that should have resulted in a goal, and his energy creates a threat too. Having a regista at FB is only one way of creating chances.

Absolutely. Bradders brings something different and will also make us more defensively stable I reckon.

Slot will have to find other passing solutions though. Without Trent it’s just Virgil who can switch play with ease at the back.

Unfortunately Bradley has so far proven to be too injury-prone to be counted on as Trent’s replacement. Best-case scenario I can see is him being a quality backup/competition for a first-choice RB we’ll sign after Trent leaves. Or Trent making a U-turn and staying, of course.

Has he though? Bar the back injury that kept him out for large parts of last season he has only had two hamstring injuries and an impact ankle injury during a game.

Don't think that will be to much of an issue going forward, but if Trent leaves we certainly will need a Vanderson/Wesley type signing.

I really don't remember any key saves where we thank God for the keeper. Maybe that one from Marmoush where he just tipped it out for a corner, that was probably going wide anyway. He just wasn't particularly tested - it was just picking up pea roller shots from outside the box.
But they were on target so they count! 🤣

Trent got beaten in 13/19 "take-ons" with Doku. That's 69% of the time he was beaten by a winger.

It's a wake up call. How do you think we would fare if this was Gordon, Vinicius, Mitoma or Isak and there was "end product" from the winger?

And that lean in, he does when someone easily goes past him. Jesus wept. Just try and stay in the foot race.
Yes the narrative that we were happy for that to happen as we had Virgil and Ibou at CB who could repel anything is a stretch to say the least.

Yep, Foden was rolling them down the middle of the turf or Marmoush lofting them into his chest. I couldn't have imagined an easier day at the office for Ali.

I would love a Finan type signing.
