Yeah agreed.Yeah that too. Robbo is falling off that cliff.

This is why I think we will be better with a seasoned RB. Trent requires others to do his jobNah, Trent did get beat too easily on several occasions – there was no sense of shepherding Doku into a pre-determined area from him, he just got beat left and right. Fortunately Slot anticipated that and basically got a combination of Gravvy, Konate and occasionally Salah to collectively do the full-back’s job.
Trent got beaten in 13/19 "take-ons" with Doku. That's 69% of the time he was beaten by a winger.
It's a wake up call. How do you think we would fare if this was Gordon, Vinicius, Mitoma or Isak and there was "end product" from the winger?
And that lean in, he does when someone easily goes past him. Jesus wept. Just try and stay in the foot race.
We had this discussion last season as well. Several of those "take-ons" from Doku are just shimmys or dance moves that gets him nowhere or even leads to a pass backwards.
After the Everton game, I was one of the few that didn't lose his head. However, there are still mistakes being made especially the MFAs a Liverpool fan, if you were told at the start of the season that there would be a twenty point gap between Liverpool and Man City in the league by the end of February, you probably would have been disappointed but not overly surprised.
That’s partially true, but this time Doku showed him a clean pair of heels even more so than last season. But to answer the question about what would happen against Vini Jr. if it gets to that stage, I think we already have our answer in the tactics Slot chose for this game. We still need Trent for his ability to turn defence into attack and let’s not forget that both our 2nd goal and our best attack of the match that didn’t result in goal stemmed from a crucial contribution from Trent. We had this discussion last season as well. It’s a difficult balance for a manager to find – but it would not have been so bloody difficult if Trent just could defend 10% better. That’s why it’s frustrating.
Look at how "limited" Szobo was last season when he played in the RCM position. Always tracking back for Trent. This is why I think we will be better with a seasoned RB. Trent requires others to do his job
Let's be honest, at the moment he's not a right back. He's midfielder with world class passing who we're hiding at right back because he can't play in midfield.Thats the difficult discussion regarding Trent. As you get a player that isn't the best at defending and you have to accept that he at times will be a liability, but then you get the best passer of the ball in the league and a right back that creates, assists, scores and is a major reason your team wins games.
We'll be a better team defensively without Trent, but Slot will need to be creative to find a solution for the rest that he brings.
Yes, but that was in the first half as stated above. My observation was mere that Trent stayed in the game and gave his all and contributed to the defensive game we played in the end. In the 2nd half there was nothing.
He should do much better in the first half, no doubt. Very frustrating that he doesn't defend better or seems to be switched off at the start.
But as others have said most, if not all, will struggle in a 1 vs 1 against Doku. Thankfully he's as dangerous as Adama Traore.
3-4 crosses that our CBs dealt with. The rest is a bit meh and stat padding.

Dominated possession - yes; had control of the game - no, that was us.It was a good professional performance, toped up by 3 points and clean sheet, despite City having almost full control of the game. Trent did well, considering having a difficult duel with Doku! I thought the two centre backs were excellent.
It is too early to talk about wining the league, because there are still many hard games left in the fixture! Just focus on Newcastle for now! Keep injuries free and best of the luck.
Trent lost 13 of these 19 duels or "take ons".
Yep this, with Haland out there was no-one to play that lofted final ball to.Doku created 0,1 xG from all his dribbles and shuffles and dance moves on the left in that game. So I'm okay with Trent getting beat and pushing him as planned towards the byline..
But it wasn't any of them, maybe just maybe a tactical plan to push Doku to the biline?Trent got beaten in 13/19 "take-ons" with Doku. That's 69% of the time he was beaten by a winger.

I think we absolutely wanted them to attack on the outside and congested the middle as much as possible.
PL only 26 games (inc. 2 as sub) = 2 goals and 6 assists (he has another 10 games in the other comps with 1 goal in the FAC).... and a right back that creates, assists, scores and is a major reason your team wins games.
What game were you watching ?! At no time did City ever have control of the game, we oozed control. They hardly created a decent chance all match! It was a good professional performance, toped up by 3 points and clean sheet, despite City having almost full control of the game. He won us a point at Villa and scored our 4th in the 5-0 win at West Ham. I'm not sure how much he's influenced our games this season with his assists (@King Binny )?
Trent did a good job shepherding Doku to the byline, preventing him from getting a clear shot on goal. He made sure Doku couldn’t cut inside and aim for the far post. Even in those key moments, when Doku went pass him, Trent showed good composure, avoiding any silly tackles that could have resulted in a penalty, which Doku was likely hoping for. No FB is guranteed to never be beaten, cause out there there will always be a winger or striker with quick feet, but Trent handled the situation as best as he could. When comparing Doku's dancing moves to Salah's play in the same game, as wingers there is a clear difference, While one can’t say Trent neutralized Doku, he definitely managed the situation well.He was skinned and his bloody corpse left on the touchline. The fact Doku is shite, can't shoot, can't pass and can't cross (as I said prematch) after that is irrelevant. Trent was as much use in that first half as a bollard.
Oh and the byline is level with the goal. Not 30m away from it.
