If it's a fake then chances are it'll be Liverpool fans who've done it, and the refs will be less inclined to give us fair decisions because our fans tried to take down "one of their own". Be fair to them, we're scousers, we'd totally stick up for a fellow scouser who'd been maligned, so I could hardly blame them. I think that's why the club have declined to comment. If it's found to be fake they'll condemn the people responsible in the harshest possible terms. If it's not, they'll let it play out and keep any criticism to PGMOL, not Coote himself.
But I suspect it's real. PGMOL moved to suspend him pretty quickly and I reckon that's because he's told them it's real and they won't care about mitigating circumstances. They have to (be seen to) come down on him like a ton of bricks.

he’s a shit referee who got caught on camera acting the big man dropping big names and saying something edgy for attention whilst under the influence. they definitely all hold these opinions and honestly if i were a ref id probably think Klopp is a cunt too.

he’s fucked his top level career over this but ultimately it’s the right outcome for probably the wrong reason. shit referees shouldn’t be involved in the PL because they’re shit not because a short video has opened up the idea they might hold bias.

He didn't get caught on camera. Id have some sympathy there.

He spoke directly into a camera lens due to his own idiocy and yayo. It wasn't like some asshole was surreptitiously recording him, though that guy is definitely an asshole. Nobody caught him doing anything. This created something that is essentially kompromat, that could be used against him in a job that sees outrageous amounts of gambling.

He has zero judgement regarding his professional life. Characters like this are the grease that allows corruption to really get going.

I'm not sure to be honest. I think they'll want to distance themselves from this (him) as far as possible and the best way to do that is to be as incontrovertible as possible. If it's not blatantly obvious then let it go and let VAR sort out (ha!) the serious stuff (and they'll be the same, if it's not, on balance, irrefutable then don't call it).

Of course a lot is subjective anyway but avoid anything that looks blatantly contentious - which I have to say seems to have been the way this season anyway, any 50/50 penalty calls have gone our way.

If I had the ability to use AI to fake a video with telltales to make it seem proper legit I wouldn’t use my skill this way. I’d be having Guardiola hanging out the back of a Labradoodle, face covered in coke screaming how the 115 charges are completely true.
 
Isnt the latest that he has accepted that its him? And some Liverpool fans have used AI tech to check if its deepfake, and it wasn't?

This won't affect us negative at all.

Yeah, I think it's smart comms to not comment on it. If we did, and we made it personal to Coote, that would get other refs' backs up - let's face it, that's why Coote had an issue with Klopp in the first place, because he felt Klopp had made it personal about him. Club's best option is to let it play out and not get involved until it's done.

It will if we call him to never ref another match again. He should be capped at the Championship now though.

Of course there's no way back for him to ever be involved in one of our games.

But all he really said was Liverpool were shit versus Burnley (of course as the ref that day, he should have kept that to himself) and that Klopp was the worst human he's ever met.

It was the other guy who said the worst stuff.

The only issue here is you can make a case against every single ref for every single team. They fuck up constantly.

Side note - how much of a legend is Milner! He’s shitting on Klopp and Liverpool but takes the time to say Milner is sound as a pound.

3 of his most glaring mistakes were when he was the var official... All of these came after when this supposed video was made which was during lockdown as they are going on about social distancing

He works in recruitment now.. although I suspect he's deactivated all social media including LinkedIn due to the on slaught coming his way.
 
If Coote called Klopp and Scousers Cunts but made decent decisions during games then it would be laughed off, and I agree we should then play it cute. Guy loses his job we all move on.
The point is though he made horrific decisions again and again, those decisions costs us and we should be kicking off any chance we get.

The whole point of VAR was to stop the clear and obv mistakes, how some of those decisions made is mental

Case in point Utd vs West Ham recently. Benefited West Ham.

He is/was just out of his depth.
