A stupid thread deserves a stupid reply. Why is everyone looking for a scapegoat?
It's just typical, Lucas was one of the players who had a bad game so he deserves a thread.

Typical kneejerk agenda driven nonsense.

You really are a bit dim, I wasn't looking for a scapegoat for yesterday - go read my thoughts elsewhere on that one, I haven't mentioned Lucas once.

And the disclaimer was for you and a few others, because I knew some overly defensive fan of his would get all offended. Well done for being as predictably twatish as ever. Go and start a thread ripping into the English contingent, or whatever agenda floats your boat this week.

'Stupid thread', that's apt coming from you, given you clearly didn't read the post and just jumped to conclusions.

We keep Lucas.

Theres a massive risk in trying to change 5 or six key positions all at once.

We have 2 players in on loan that I hope we replace with quality - and that will cost.

There are players out on loan that will have to be evaluated as to whether they're ready to contribute to the first team or not and whether they are worth keeping.

I am not one for selling players and weakening the squad but in this case it wouldn't anyway . At the moment he carries some equity- cash-in in the summer I say.

I did but I actually didn't need to because I expected someone to start a Lucas thread after that loss.
Why didn't you start a thread about how useless he is after the West Ham game?

It's like the Johnson all over again.

To be fair Johnson should get a thread after yesterday's abominable display

Good idea. We should have a thread about how shit both of them are after every game

It's already a recurring theme. I think I'll skip the Crystal Palace game, log on after the game and see if there's any Lucas or Johnson threads around. If there is, we've most likely lost or drawn.

It's not a stupid thread mate. It's that time of the year when we see players come and go and he's hardly setting the world alight with his performances and so it's fair to debate whether he has a future with us or not.
Personally, I'd like to see him sold with the finds being invested in a younger talent with more potential. I don't even rate him enough to be a squad player as a dm.

Lucas doesnt have the dynamisms of Henderson or the legs to get about. Squad player at best much like Allen. We must get better players if we wants better results and silverware.

Not many players have Hendos legs, unless theres an injury crisis we won't ever see Lucas play in an advanced midfield role ever again.

[article=http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/376954/Liverpool-star-Lucas-lifts-lid-on-his-tactics-talks-with-Brendan-Rodgers]LIVERPOOL star Lucas Leiva has revealed how he sat down with boss Brendan Rodgers for crunch talks over tactics earlier this year.

The Brazilian had been used more as a holding midfielder, a role now being fulfilled by skipper Steven Gerrard.

It meant Rodgers wanted Leiva to carry more of an attacking threat as one of the two central men of a diamond - just like he did before making his Anfield switch.

Lucas said: "I played there for Gremio - we used to play a lot of time in a diamond.

"We had a holding midfielder, a playmaker, then me - more box-to-box. The playmaker did not run forward so much but I had the energy and freedom to join the attack

"It's pretty much the same Brendan asks here if we play in a diamond.

"Yes, you have to look after the full-backs and, when the ball is on the other side of the pitch, help outside the holding midfielder. You also have to keep the ball but contribute to the attack.

"We sat down in January, where he explained that he wanted to use Stevie as a holding player and me on the side of the three midfielders or the diamond. I had to readjust.

"It's something I feel comfortable with. Of course, as much as you play you feel even more comfortable. You know you can help more. Football is like that.

"The team is doing so well and it is difficult for the manager to change things.

"You understand that. I know that the only way is to train hard and prepare. Lots of players this season have had chances when they did not expect it."

"I know Stevie is playing in my position and doing very, very well.

"So that's why I'm working hard and maybe looking - not towards another position - but maybe another way I can help, and still play beside Stevie.

"Because I know him being in the team in that position, my chances will be limited."

He'll be superceded by newer, younger players this summer. He may well stay on as back up. But I think his days of being in the first team will be extremely limited.
