Modo shouldn't be banned, he just needs to stop acting like he's got a chip on his shoulder.

Totalitarianism at work it seems.

No place for conflicting opinions. Cause that's basically what it is. I can't help it if it riles you up.

Think you might want to look 'totalitarianism' up in a dictionary.

Like I say, most of the time you barely register with me, but occasionally your nonsense becomes so stultifyingly tedious and unconstructive that I wonder why we put up with it.

Please don't compare Modo to Brendan. Brendan was an obnoxious cunt.

I think Modo gives his honest opinion. You don't have to agree with it, and a lot of the time I don't. But comparing him to Brendan?

At least with Bendan there was an upside, he was clever and funny. I don't see what Modo's is.

LOL and I always thought I was relatively fond of him, compared to most. A dickhead, but a mostly harmless one.

I started this thread because I thought Lucas deserved some praise. Did I derail it?
In my opinion no.
If you feel that it's boring and tedious to read what I have to say then by all means ignore me.
Also if this was a popularity contest and I'm seeking attention then I'm actually doing a terrible job promoting myself.

Yeah Lucas played very well when he came on. Can't remember him giving the ball away once.

I said in the game thread it was his best 45 mins of the season and possible ever. He really was superb.

And Flanagan was rubbish for me today and got lucky a number of times.

He gave the ball away a few times, didn't cause any big problems though.
What impressed me was that he was playing in a box to box role, like he did in Gremio before he joined us.

Before he was Rafa'd. He's a decent footballer, maybe it's going to come to the fore now Gerrard has moved himself into the Lucas role.

I always liked how Lucas is generally very good at taking a touch, turning and/or looking up simultaneously allowing him to play a quick pass.

I'm glad he's back.

Rafa really "Raffed" him up but he improved because of it to be fair and it got him into the Brazilian national team.
But I'm not sure that he'll be in the World cup squad with Fernandinho, Ramires, Paulinho and Luiz Gustavo competing for the same spot.

The thing is Modo, it's the language you use and the hounding of Flanno that's makes people believe you have an agenda. Sturridge had a poor game today, he didn't really gel with the attacking play, was off the pace and snapped at his shots. He got subbed because off it. Why aren't you using the same arguments against him? Same with Coutinho but you would dare say anything bad about him. Flanno got beat a few times, it came to nothing but the lad still won us the game, he didn't have his best game but nor did others.

Lucas had a great game, glad you started the thread on him.

I don't think I'm using a different language to describe Flanno's performance's. Sturridge was poor today and I did criticize Coutinho for his performance.
The thing is Sturridge does have a tendency to drift in and out of games but he often conjures something up from nothing and suddenly the ball is in the back of the net. I wasn't expecting him to get subbed.

Regarding Flanno, I had my eyes on both fullbacks because, like everyone else, I didn't want their wingers to get to the byline.
Flanno just had more problems keeping Diame quiet, maybe he didn't get as much help as Johnson.

Lucas was great, but the switch to the diamond midfield was even better. Took control of the game once we got out of that stationary midfield 4 shite.

About Coutinho, the only thing I read from you was that it wasn't his game. And your argument for Sturridge can apply to Flanno. He occasionally gets beaten but there's rarely a goal as a result from it but he often conjures a crunching tackle to recover or suddenly he's dropped his shoulder and delivered an assist to a goal or wins a penalty. No ones expects him to be heavily criticised because he's in the 'first team' now.

Did I not praise Flanno for getting the penalty?
The reason why I didn't say much about Coutinho was because I didn't post anything during the first half. Was watching a delayed stream and I didn't want it to spoil the game. Watched the 2nd half on cable TV.

Lucas chats with Brazil's technical director Carlos Alberto Parreira at the Boleyn Ground.

Picked the right game to play well in. Feel a bit sorry for Coutinho.

Like I said, it's the language you use that encourages others to think you're a WUM or have an agenda.

Rodgers impressed me with this move more than the sub. Maybe I'm wrong, but I seem to remember he wasn't good at this part of game management when he started with us ... but his ability to switch things around, and adapt our team/formations, this season has been second to none. He's quite brilliant. What he's done this year with the squad ... Wow.

Glad we have options on the bench now. We really need to get our striking options sorted out next season as well.

Coming back to topic, I think Lucas is intelligent enough to (re?) adapt to a more attacking role if need be.

Takes a long time on the training ground to get players used to and comfortable with shifting formations mate.

It's quite amazing how much of an immediate difference a shift in formation makes.

I mean, i know the above statement sounds a bit cliched, but when we changed to the diamond, we dominated and bossed the midfield almost immediately, as compared to the first half when we struggled and were stifled by the hammers' narrow pressing.

Only goes to show what a great tactician, our Brendan is.

Thought he played well today off the bench.

Even more impressive as he was playing more advanced than usual - given Stevie G is now our preferred deep option.

Having said that, Lucas played in an advanced midfield position at Gremio so he's not new to it.

Just what we needed after the average display from the midfield in the first half.

Personally, while I thought Lucas got the job done, I didn't think he was extraordinary. He looked incredibly awkward when in a more advanced role, which is what I expect from him.

The change ultimately won us the midfield back, but I think more credit goes to BR for making the change than Lucas for executing.

At last it has been spelt out.

Indeed it was the change in formation that wrested back the midfield. Lucas played his part well but did nothing astonishing and a) Gerrard is far far better and a massive influence on our play from DM and b) we can't afford to have Lucas in the more advanced position, one creative pass per 10 matches is not going to cut it. Coutinho is the man to start against City, who we will need to out-score because for sure they will not go home with Zero in the Goals For column.

Mentioning Allen, and it's the same with Lucas, I'm loving the competition we have in those positions now, Allen, Henderson, Lucas, Coutinho, Gerrard and Sterling all playing for four positions, it's great for the squad as it keeps them pushing and they all do great jobs and add something very different when they step in.

Lol Modo is getting some stick. He puts up loads of pics and videos so I'd hate to see him banned because some disagree with his opinion.
If you don't like reading his posts ignore them
