Lucas - best tackler ever

Lucas' wife is called Ariana. You could easily shorten that name to...

Ariana?
Just noticed my joke doesn't seem to work on tapatalk. Perhaps it's the Lucas of jokes, not everyone can see its brilliance.

@Arn do you have any facts/stats/numbers on the amount of needless fouls he's given away, and how that compares to others in the league?

All you do is moan, moan, moan, but you will never be right, because you will never see that Lucas wins 90% of our games for us with tackles that prevent certain goals from 30 yards out. Get with the fucking script.

I blame Rafa. He bought a box to box midfielder then decided to turn him into a DM.
He came on against Dortmund and took out that guy on the halfway line, the ref plays advantage, he goes back another 20 yards and takes out the next guy to give them a free kick on the edge of the box in the 94th minute.
And yet I still like the guy.

Behave. Lucas owes Benitez his entire career. He came as a much-heralded "box to box" player and wasn't good enough. As even Lucas himself admitted.

Playing DM was the ONLY way he was ever going to have a career and Benitez persevered with him for reasons best known to himself.

In that case you have to admire the man even more. He's been picked by every manager since.
I like him.
I will not behave.

I'm just correcting you about the Attacking Midfield and Benitez comment, which was wrong. Blame Benitez? He should be praising his name to the heavens.

As for every manager who keeps picking him, well, most of them also drop him quickly, too. Rodgers never played him much in his final season and was happy to sell him. Now Klopp never plays him in midfield, and he can only get a game when we are playing the second-string, and even then it's at CB with Kolo Toure.

He's rarely been a first choice player, and when he is, we come 7th or worse, and the managers who picks him regularly get sacked. The reason for this is that he isn't a very good footballer.

He is an average player. He has had some very good, but albeit rare games in the past. The good games happen around every 1 in 15 games with him being bang average in the rest of them. And you could argue that it was at his peak (26-28 years old) and that's the best he could muster.

He is getting slower and physically weaker now. He hasn't had a good game in a long while. Klopp put in at the back for a reason. He is no longer mobile but could still do some tackling and is a surprisingly good header of the ball. But after getting owned by King over the weekend maybe Klopp will have his doubts.

He is on a downward spiral for sure. Starting this thread now, when he struggles to get anywhere near the team, makes no sense really.

Klopp put in at the back for a reason.
Yes because all of our defenders were injured but now that they're back needed a rest.

I don't think it would be much of a surprise if Lucas starts against Everton.

In fairness to Lucas, I think he only played at CB against Bournemouth because Skrtel had a knock.

Well, I think that he played CB because he is an excellent leader on the pitch and can organize a defence. Klopp neaded that type of player because he decided to rest a lot of our experienced players.

It is also strange that when Lucas is out injured and he has been that a lot the last few years then it is suddenly forgotten and it is called that he was dropped. He was out a long time the nearly season made a comeback but soon got injured again.

By that kind of logic Sturridge have been dropped a lot the last couple of years.
