Lovren

I think Lovren will keep improving now. What bothers me about him is his strange compulsion to wind up as many opposing players as he can each match. Not watching Southampton last season except when we played them, I didn't notice that much, but he seems to be always at it. Now the odd well-chosen niggle at a certain excitable opponent can work in some situations, but he just appears to get whole teams wanting to hit him. It's not helping his discipline and concentration and it will probably get him sent off more often than an opponent.

He has the same problems that Skrtel had for a number of seasons before (look away now) actually improving on it in the last couple of seasons - a tendency to over-commit and dive in early, fancying the big (and lazy) one-and-done tackle rather than being patient, staying on his feet, tracking the opponent and blocking instead. That Skrtel improved on that (even in these last couple of seasons) gives me hope that Lovren can (and will) too.

Keep, but kick him in the butt every now and then.

This is where I'm at.
