Liverpool vs Chelsea Match Thread

Yeah, this is it, it's always a case of heart-in-mouth, we've gotten away with it so many times, it's a wonder we haven't fucked up more. It's great trying to ensure we keep hold of the ball, but half the time it ends up back to Mignolet, who boots it back to the opposition anyway!

Deliberately refused to post anything on this till now.
Have also refused to read the whole thread so this has doubtless been mentioned countless times already.

We're all gutted because we came so close; in hindsight perhaps it might have been better to play for the point because Mourcunt was always going to park the bus and catch us when we threw men forward. But whatever, we went for the win. And thats exactly what we've been doing since Christmas.

We have 2 games to go and there's 6 points on the table. If Citeh still win their games anyway and are champions again, we'll be gutted, but will still congratulate a worthy champion. I also hope we win our games to ensure that the anti-football of Chelsea isnt deemed the best in England.

If we dont get maximum points and end up in 2nd or 3rd, there will be no recriminations. Yes, we will be heartsick and gutted because we came so close. But we were 7th last year. 7th. We are going places.

We've shown tremendous quality at times, determination, and grit.
Next year, we will welcome Europe again. Teams which have dreamed secretly of playing once again at Anfield.

So next year, we go again.

That is all.

I watched Neville and Carragher dissect the game and it was good analysis.

One thing that bugged me was the selective listening from the audience. Carragher stated that Liverpool had been guilty of the same tactics deployed by Mourinho so we couldn't really complain. Now people are running with that and using it against us. What a second? Didn't Carragher place a little caveat after it to inform the masses that Liverpool were branded a disgrace to football for those tactics? People are conveniently omitting that when they regurgitate his words. We all said it was a job well done from Chelsea just not a tactical master class.

I think the bits from Neville, while logical and reasonable, assumed also that Chelsea players couldn't read the game. It was like "Look, pass here, pass here, pass it to Suarez there - aha! that's the opening" when in reality, a well-organized Chelsea defence could've and would've shifted or doubled on one of our guys accordingly to make the penetrations really difficult.

Neville's plan sounded like "give Suarez the ball and he'll work an opening" when we saw several times in the game how Suarez's touch and control had let him down when he did have the ball, thus adding to our exasperation and impatience. We also saw Sterling getting doubled upon several times when he had the ball out wide, and Chelsea were comfortable to back off and let Gerrard hack from distance. They knew what they were doing.

i think the best way to take it is as a compliment . Chelsea and that cunt knew they couldn't open up against us or we'd tear them apart so had to play shithouse to beat us . Fair enough , they kept their organisation , did it well and it worked . We have to learn from it as it's probably something we've not experienced in big games before , i mean when was the last time a "big" team was so scared of us they did that ? Shows how far we've come .

The big disappointment is that it happened at this moment .

We expected the bus and got exactly that. We should have been smarter. We were dominant and should have won but didn't. Our finishing was poor and we had plenty of opportunity.

Can't fault the lads for their efforts. Sturridge looked well out of it when he came on and SAS have been poor of late. More goals needed from other players and its not happening at the minute.
