Lucas was brilliant today, he's been shit/average in alot of other games though, but we won't talk about that will we?
And of course, playing Agger ahead of him was exactly what I said. Oh wait.

Skrtel wasn't poor but he wasn't one of our best performers today, I actually think Sakho and Touré were better.
And this is not because I have an agenda, I actually think Agger needs to earn his place back.
Also why is it Skrtel vs Agger when Sakho is the one playing in his spot.

serious question, and before I drone on, I am delighted with our start and it goes without saying Hendo is playing a part in it, what part though, is difficult for me to fathom. He doesn't score goals, doesn't set many up (any?), doesn't do 50/50 crcunching tackles ala mascher, doesn't do dream thready balls either. he's doing something, but what? working - buying gerrard and others space and time? running around a lot to close down?
I agree at the moment he just runs around and harasses players on the pitch. Doesn't do any constructive work in attack and will be the one Rodgers drops when Coutinho is back. Has to be.
Hendo harassed the shit out of them and generally played pretty well. He also made many more good decisions than Moses that made us click offensively. Had a few things that didn't come off, but was one of the good guys.
prob right, but you would hope harassing players is a min for a guy in cm. obv an improvement in moses, who is, to his defence, not a cm. he needs to bring something else to the party soon, otherwise, coutinho coming in makes a lot of sense.

Second In the league, Rodgers winning games, we beat united, Moyes is their manager, they are falling apart gradually, maybe, Sir Alex outed as a dour petty man, Suarez on fire, Studger scoring almost very game. What's not to like about this week, month, season so far. Can we hold the criticisms lads. Nothing is ever perfect !
Coutinho will come in and I think at that point we'll drop this back 3 shit and go with 4 at the back, and Hendo, SG and Lucas in the middle.
I think the back 3 should be given a chance with coutinho in the hole. Would be nice to see him feeding SaS
He will be the man, but he wasn't in great form before he got injured. Theoretically, him providing the ammunition for Studge and Suarez will be irresistible.
Just watched the game. Our best performance this season imho. Our midfield trio was much better than in previous games and we dominated the entire match against a team that has won at OT and conceded very few goals.
Much improved passing game and some fantastic goals.
Gerrard, Suarez, Sturridge, Lucas, Hendo, Sakho and Skrtel were all very good.
2nd in the league, 3rd most goals scored, 4th in conceded goals and could actually lose our next 6 games and have the same points tally as last season.
Yet some moan. Fuck off and enjoy it eh? We're fucking boss! And if we continue to improve it all looks very promising.

No wasn't that great but he was never given a chance to play with Suarez and Sturridge on the pitch and they were clearly man marking him. Closed him down as soon as he got the ball. They knew that he was our main threat in midfield but will they be able to contain all three of them? That's the question.
What I like about this 3-4-1-2 (or whatever) line up, is that most teams don't know how to counter it.
Clarke decided to rely on his central midfield today and like I said before the game they'd leave their wings open. So while struggling to contain our wingers they opened up a gap in midfield, but we didn't have Coutinho there who could exploit that gap.
I say stick with 3 at the back, so that Suarez doesn't always have to end up on the wing.
We can seriously hurt Arsenal with this line up, but I'm a bit worried about having Cissokho coming up against Özil.

Finally a performance the like which we have been waiting for a long time. Four outstanding goals. WBA did us last year and I felt that Clarke had out-thought Rodgers twice. This time there were very few pedestrian performances (save for Cissokho's strange cowardice) when we are being attacked.Outstanding first half by Gerrard and Lucas in central midfield. Henderson is not [yet] a creative player in an advanced position but what he does, and does it better than Gerrard, is harry opponents into rushing their decisions and further up the pitch, too. Mulumbu and Yacob were forced to pass the ball sooner that they expected. I think the three-man midfield helped as well-- last week we were simply overrun. Did think Skrtel was lucky not to concede a penalty or two but the officals made up for it with a very generous award. Buy that's minor quibble.

He was also getting kicked a lot as well this season before the injury, so that didn't help.
I didn't see the game, but I'm always going to take the opinions of people who were actually at the match over those who watched on a stream.
Incidentally those stats on duels and aerial duels don't make great reading for Toure and Sakho.

Skrtel for me wasn't terrible or amazing, just a cog in the machine today. No single player from our defense stood out for me.
Henderson's running was very important to our success today, even with the misplaced passes and poor shots, he provides that vital link between midfield and attack, and had the engine to get it done.
