It may not have been a penalty, but if the ref is shit then Masher shouldn't have put him in a position to make a shit decision by fouling him in the first place.

Someone give me a synopsis of the first half, because my stream's so shit it's really hard to tell. I know we scored, then they got an iffy penalty, but after that who's dominated? Can anyone see us winning this, or would you settle for a draw?

For me it was a penalty for United, but not a red card for Masher.
IMO, you can't have a penalty *and* a red card if you deny a goal-scoring opportunity - it's too much of an advantage. It's either a red outside the box or a yellow and penalty in it as far as I'm concerned.
Torres looked a deserved yellow, too, and as Spion says, Torres needs to knuckle down and get on with this game, because apart from the goal he's contributed fuck all.
Since the penalty we've kept our shape extremely well and defended decently, although we need to cut out the amount of freekicks around the box, but hey, what's new? We also need to be more assertive in the middle of the park, although this is made difficult by Javier's yellow card.
Kuyt is playing extremely well.

Good performance from the lads during the first 30 mins, strong in the tacke, crisp passing and a bit of intensity in our approach. Last 15 mins was not so good though, and we cant invite Utd to have a go at us. We have to get going again, and play Fernando into space. Thats where hes good.
Im really disapointed in Gerrard. He's got to step up, cause he has looked disinterested at times.
