A brief word on him. 1st half Probably the best 45min I have seen by an attacking english midfielder for a long long time. I think he would suit our formation so well. Lovely player. English premium prob means he would cost a fortune.

I'd take Lallana in a heart-beat, quality player with vision and skill. Should start for England in the WC but Hodge will probably keep him on the bench for all 3 game group games.

I'll be stunned if United don't get Shaw in the Summer.

Isn't Shaw a Chelski fan? And why would he even go to utd? sinking ship and all. But stranger things have happened.

£30 million each in these crazy days. Nice to see so many English players on show yesterday.

Lallana looks like a cracking player. Perfect competition for Coutinho. But we can't afford him.

They have, but I suspect he's nailed on for the Chavs, especially with Cole now at the back end of his career.

Lallana's easily good enough for us, but I worry about his mental approach sometimes. He can disappear in games when things aren't going their way. Yesterday was a case in point.

I think Shaw will end up at Chelsea if that's where he wants to go. It just so happens that they need a new LB anyways with Cole probably on his way out in the summer.

As for Lallana, he looks really good, but I'd be very apprehensive about spending 25M or whatever it would take for a 26 year old English midfielder who has only recently started to shine. Not necessarily a reflection of Lallana himself but I couldn't take another Charlie Adam / Stewart Downing big fish in a small pond mistake.

Doesn't necessarily follow. Joe Allen's a long-time Manc for example (tho' it would be interesting to know if he still counts himself as one).

Ronnie Whelan - Man U supporter

Fowler - Everton

McManaman - Everton

Carra - Everton.

In the end it's about playing the game. Man U didn't want Allen, so why would he reject us?

Also, I was impressed with Lallana yesterday. He's a decent player but I still think it's a lot of hype surrounding him.

Lallana is good but not good enough. imo, not Liverpool qwarletee.

plus if he's gonna cost a bomb, i'd rather we spend it on world-class quality.

I'd rather we spend it on Konoplyanka or Yarmolenko.
Also, I'd rather give Teixeira and Suso a chance.

Assuming a fee for Lallana wasn't a problem, which it is, they weren't 26 when we bought them/brought them through (in fact 2 were gone at that age).

Saints have loads of players that would be worth signing, Along with Lallana and Shaw, Schneiderlin and Lovren are very good players, that Chambers kid looked really good yesterday and has been keeping Clyne out the team who is also very good looking right back, Ward Prowse looks a really good prospect to.

Regardless of what happens with Pochettino and the ownership this summer bigger clubs will be looking to pillage a lot of their talent.

Lallana would be good enough for us, hes technically excellent, creates and scores goals and works very hard but as mentioned the the fee would be a major turn off.

Just for the sake of correctness, he's 25 now. He'll turn 26 in May, i.e. before the transfer window.

I thought he was like 21 or something.

I keep hearing about all these players the mancs are gonna buy. But I don't get how they're gonna attract anyone.

On the topic of whether we'd afford him - we've really got to spend big this summer to make the most of Champs league appeal.

Next season is crucial for Champs league qualification, hence all the media drivel about Utd looking to spend 200m this summer. the BT Sport deal kicks in season after next meaning that Champions league will be worth approx 65-70m as opposed to the 30-35m it is now.

The divide will only get bigger and we need to make the most of our momentum and develop a squad with enough quality and depth to ensure we're right in the thick of it.

Utd, on the other hand, are facing oblivion if they fail to qualify two seasons running. Likewise, Spurs etc

Can we do a cut price deal for Lamela? Is there hope for him to resurrect his career yet?

We should look at the Spurs squad next season for potential Sturridge scenario. I'm sure they will look to recoup some of the money they spent on players last season, if they are not fitting in well (which they are not).
