I'm perplexed by Mignolet's run in goal. Karius must wonder what he has to do to get a start. And Ward even more must wonder what he is even doing at the club. GK for me now has to be the priority purchase. We needed a leader and game changer in midfield, we now have #1 target Keita coming in. We needed a leader in defence and have #1 target VVD coming in. Yes, we need some other positions strengthened, but GK has to be priority.
Over the past 5 or so years we have had front lines that are scoring for fun, from Suarez, Studge & Sterling to Firmino, Mane, Salah & Coutinho. All throughout this period these players have been scoring plenty of goals in games but seen their efforts let down by mistakes at CB and GK consistently. It is no wonder Suarez, then Sterling, now Coutinho want to leave. From their point of view - what is the fucking point. VVD is hopefully the start of this (and at least a statement that we are addressing this), but GK needs to happen or we will continue to see errors in goal.
