Obviously I’ve been a loud critic of Mignolet for years and said we needed a better keeper when Rodgers was flying high as manager, and that hasn’t changed.

But while a top keeper would make a difference, there’s no way that it will fix that shambolic, shite defence in isolation.

True but i think investing in a top quality goalkeeper would give us maximum return for the money. Good goalkeepers are still relatively cheap compared to other positions. The costliest goalkeeper is only 35 million (Ederson) which is relatively low.

€100M, so around £88M. Let's say we sell Ming and Karius for £30M combined, so £58M for the upgrade – is it worth it, in your opinion?

If we have the money, I would say, let's do it. Kind of goes against Klopp's past record though; I don't think he's ever shelled out any significant money for a goal-keeper.

No way we are getting 30 million for both combined, given their statistics, the length of the contract, and the salaries we pay. Most likely we send Mignolet out on loan to a mid level PL team and hope he impresses there ( which I think he will).

Karius and Mignolet are as bad as each other. They're shit. I'd quite happily see them, Moreno and Lovren bombed out the club.

Yes, frankly Karius gives me the fear even more than Jelly wrists. It is a shit state of affairs.

A good keeper would probably have us in second even without improvement in the rest of the defence. We'd have 2 more points from Arsenal for a start. If we're not going for Oblak even Butland would make a difference.

I dont think Butland is that much of an upgrade.

Donnarumma has a release clause and want to leave after this season.
We should at least try, even though PSG seem to be favourites.

Yeah, Donnarumma is apparently trying through his lawyers to back out of the contract he signed in the summer, claiming he was basically coerced into signing in under pressure of "moral violence" (whatever that means). Milan fans are booing and throwing things at him after those stories came out; Donnarumma was seen literally crying alone in the dressing room after a recent game.

Butland's still a decent keeper but I'm not convinced he's back to where he was before his injury. That player I'd have signed in a heartbeat. Now I'm not so sure.

I like Donnarumma very much but I wouldn't consider him. I know he sacked his agent (and more power to him for that) but I still suspect he wants out of his contract with some specific further destination in mind, and I very much doubt it's us.

Personally I don't rate Donnarumma. His agility as a keeper is shit. Too slow getting down. Oh and the rumours of him sacking off the fat shit of an agent appear to be bollocks.

Edersen is only 24. He is going to be there for a VERY long time.

Karius is shit. Mignolet is shit. Who's worse on a shit scale, I have no idea. But whoever wins is still shit. Fuckin sort it Klopp.

He wasn't 'alone' - he was consoled by Bonucci.

Is this Ward actually not shit or just a hope because he isn't either of these wankers?
My logic is that I want Ward to have a run, simply because we know Mignolet is shite (& have done for about three fucking years now), we've given karius a run of games & we're sure he's shite.

Ward hasn't had that chance so we're not sure he's shite. So fuck it, let's give him a shot.

Both. I haven't seen him play as much as the other two but I've never seen him do anything amazingly bad or stupid like they have.

Yup. We should make sure we know he’s shit first. What worries me with him is he looks a bit small. Pepe made up for his lack of height with big muscle mass. And he was very young when he did that. Ward’s still a bit skinny and short-ish. Don’t have high hopes for him.

He's heavier than Ming and taller than Karius, he's physically ready for it

If Stephen Hawking was in nets, the percentage of shots that just hit him wouldn’t be that different from what Mignolet actually saves through effort.

If we look at the bigger picture here, Karius and Ming are both better at boxing corners than Hawkins. At least Karius. So I would still prefer them to Hawkins.

AC Milan's highly-rated goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was reduced to tears after club supporters unfurled a vast banner telling him to leave the club.
The 18 year-old had to be consoled by defender Leonardo Bonucci as he was harangued by home fans before and during AC Milan's 3-0 Coppa Italia victory over Verona on Monday night.
A 100ft banner criticising Donnarumma was unfurled by fans before kick-off, causing the Italy international to break down in the dressing room as Milan's players returned from their pre-match warm up.
Reports in Italy have suggested Donnarumma is involved in a contract dispute with the rossoneri and has instructed his agent, Mino Raiola, to help him secure a move away from the San Siro in January.
The huge banner, which stretched across three sections of the San Siro, explained fans had 'lost patience' with the youngster.

The banner read: "Moral violence, 6 million per year and the signing of a parasite brother? Now get out, the patience is over!"
The 'parasite brother' refers to Donnarumma's 27-year-old sibling and fellow goalkeeper Antonio, who joined Milan from Greek Super League side Asteras Tripoli in the summer but has not yet played this season.

Newly-appointed head coach Gennaro Gattuso leapt to the defence of his young goalkeeper as Milan booked a quarter-final clash with city rivals Inter.

"He's an 18-year-old kid, of course he was shaken," Gattuso told Rai Sport. "I can only thank him for what he's doing. For his age, he's the best goalkeeper in the world right now.
"You can tell from his face he's not happy, but I have known a great athlete and great kid. He will have my protection, for all the protection I can give.
"If the club says it doesn't need to sell anyone, nor wants to, then why should we even talk about this? I respect the fans, but people need to understand whether 'Gigio' really does want to go or if he wants to stay. I can say I'm working with a great athlete and professional."

Gattuso continued: "I am the coach of Milan, so I can talk about the lad, the athlete, but nothing else. 'Gigio' has not told me personally that he wants to leave. If he did, that would be different.
"I'm not talking about Mino Raiola, because I speak to 'Gigio' every day. I don't know if Mino is trying to push players away from the club either.
"I feel terrible about this, as people are painting a kid as if he's a monster and he doesn't deserve it. Fortunately, there were only 9,000 people in the stadium tonight. Imagine how it would feel if there were 50,000 insulting him."

AC Milan are seventh in the Serie A table despite having spent over £200 million in the summer transfer window

I'll take that reasoning.

I'll take that reasoning.

Karius is the same age and has about 100 more top level appearances despite being the same age as Ward.

Based on that alone i would not be the slightest bit surprised if he is better than Ward.

Even though we haven't seen any howlers from Ward, i'll bet he's made some and he just benefits from having a low profile.
From the little i've seen of him it looks like he lacks the atheticism to play top level football.

I'd rather a new goalkeeper entirely, but if we have to go with one of the present three i'd be inclined to give Karius a run in the team

Yeah, but looking at him in goal makes me crap my pants. I want to see if Ward doesn't.
