Joe Allen, LFC midfielders and midfield combinations and now the Jordan Henderson thread

It's a hypothetical thread about him signing in which most of us post with the lines "if he signs"

Well, no, it's just a hunch. Adam is on his way out. Rodgers wants players who can win the ball back within 7 seconds, not eat a Big Mac in 7 seconds.

I'd say the only way to enjoy eating an ear is if you baked it for ages until it was like a big bacon fry,.

everyone is accusing me of being moany and negative just like they did last summer. we all know who was right.

modo is a poor man's me.

That would mean...........

Sky Sports understands 🙄 Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed his interest in Allen

earlier this week as he looks to rebuild the squad at Anfield.
As revealed by Sky Sports earlier this week, Liverpool

were preparing a bid for Allen and both clubs are thought to be in advanced talks as they look to thrash out a deal
Allen, who is away with Team GB at the Olympics, is thought to be keen on a move to Liverpool to be reunited with Rodgers.
Swansea are reluctant to lose the midfield schemer, but know they will not be able to resist a big-money offer for Allen.
Allen is thought to have a release clause in his contract and Liverpool are believed to be ready to match the £15million fee to land the Wales international.
Swansea are already looking at possible replacements for Allen with Spanish midfielder Michu poised to make the switch to the Liberty Stadium.
Rodgers is keen to get a move for Allen wrapped up as soon as possible as he looks to add the midfielder to the signing of Fabio Borini.

Some shit article that's just been written:

So this looks like it’s going to happen.

Joe Allen’s a neat little player, and Brendan Rodgers obviously will know what he’s getting and how to use Allen to maximum effect.
But £15m though? That’s the reported fee, and that’s a lot of money for someone of that ability. Swansea did well last season, and they played some good football – but take those individual players out of their collective context, and do they really retain the same value? Allen was part of a group of players who added up to more than the sum of their parts.

Additionally, if you’re going to spend that amount of money, then presumably you’re buying a player with a view to starting him. If so, who does he replace in what’s expected to be central midfield three? Lucas Leiva? No. Alberto Aquilani? No. Steven Gerrard? Obviously not. Even Jordan Henderson has more value at the moment.

That all sounds very negative, but this just looks like Liverpool are getting ready to make last Summer’s mistakes all over again. Paying over-the-odds for British players – I thought Kenny Dalglish had the trademark out on that one?

We’ll see, but that’s a lot of money and a lot of expectation. This has bad marriage written all over it.

dempsey, borini and allen would be a fucking turd summer.

Why?
There will be 1-2 additions aswell. But Borini is an extremely talented striker and Allen is probably the biggest midfield prospect in the league.
Dempsey will add goals and be a good replacement for Maxi/Kuyt.

Add a pacey forward/winger and its a great piece of business imho.

This source is taking Swansea City’s interest in Bolton midfielder Mark Davies as a sign that Michael Laudrup may be resigned to losing Joe Allen this summer, with Liverpool apparently ‘likely’ to snap up the Welsh international youngster.

Brendan Rodgers may well feel the need to improve his midfield options and will be more than aware of the potential pint sized maestro Allen possesses but will Swans chairman Huw Jenkins really consider offers from the former Liberty Stadium boss?

Having already signed Fabio Borini and Clint Dempsey said to be a likely capture, it stands to reason that the Liverpool boss may need to sell players to balance the books. Though the club’s American owners handed former boss Kenny Dalglish £120m to invest in new additions they also clawed back a fair sum on player sales, amassing around £70m from the sales of Fernando Torres, Raul Meireles and Ryan Babel alone.

Andy Carroll does seem likely to be on his way after Rodgers admitted he would listen to offers for the former Newcastle United man, similarly Craig Bellamy could also be sacrificed, which again is not all that much of a surprise given that the new Liverpool boss is looking to plan for the long term.

However the possibility of selling Scottish international Charlie Adam is more than a little surprising. Though the former Blackpool man didn’t set the word alight last term he was still far more consistent than fellow summer signings Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson.

Though Adam struggled for goals he did weigh in with a fair few assists and is surely a player with a Liverpool future.
