Okay do what's your all time favourite world cup starting 11.
You have to have seen them play to include them. That's the rule.
It can be any (realistic) formation but must have a keeper and at least 3 defenders.

Here's mine.

Buffon
Pearce
Maldini
Thuram
Cafu
Matheus
Laudrup
Hagi
Zidane
Maradona
Ronaldo

subs-
suker, Barthez, Baggio, Bergkamp, Adams, Figo, Ahn.

What, actually watch them play? Live like? at a stadium?

Or does TV count?
Tv is fine, but live! It has to be on tv you watched it and remember watching.
I mean I understand I watched 82 but I can't really remember it so I've started in 86

Are't you back four all full backs?
Yes. But Maldini and Thuram played bags of games at cb.
That said I forgot Desailly so I could swap Thuram for him.

I think I've seen better strikers at the WC though to be honest. Romario, Bergkamp, Stoichkov, Rossi, Ruminegga (sp?), Klinsmann, Linekar ...

Doesn't feel right leaving Giggs out.
Put him in. History and sanity will forgive you.

Gianluca Pagliuca

Paulo Maldini
Paul McGrath
Ronald Koeman
Cafu

Esteban Cambiasso
Zinedine Zidane
Frank Rijkaard
Gheorghe Hagi

Hristo Stoichkov
Ronaldo

Starting from '98, i've not got a great selection.

EDIT: Theres far too many strikers that i want in this, Batistuta, Vieri, Torres, Rivaldo, Bergkamp etc.

Kahn

Cafu
Nesta
Hierro
Carlos

Overmars
Zidane
Laudrup

Owen
Ronaldo
Suker

All I remember of him in 86 to be fair was the England game. 1990 was where it was at.

Omam-Biyick, Schillaci, etc.

The problem is these days you pretty much know everyone already.

God. Just check this shit out. Doing it better than Messi, 30 years before him playing on fucking bogs they wouldnt even allow a game to be played on today and getting the utter shit kicked out of him.
He was born too soon man, on the carpets they play now with the protection that kind of player is afforded he would be untouchable.

MARADONA'S TRICKS
Shut it you one fingered bastard.

I'm not sure what that means but I'm gonna take it as a compliment.
It means you type like an ape.

I think the omission of Maradona may be linked to the fact that you wanted posters to name their favorite starting 11, not the best 11. (Key distinction).

Maradona was and is a spectacularly massive cunt.
