So.. Loan or keep him and hope he earns the minutes?
I think we have more options this season, as opposed to last season, which really helped Sterling progress.

Why not? Bring him on as a sub for ten minutes here and there, start him in the league cup, what's the problem?

Well ideally, yea, but we both know that isn't overly likely.

Why not? He's play almost all pre season games and consistently been 1 of the best if not best attacking outlets.

I'll be very suprised if he isn't 1 of the 1st subs used most weeks before breaking into the side by Oct at the latest.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong but I just think a loan to a Premiership team is the safest option. There are alot of variables and its not worth risking such potential.

I agree in principle that we should be loaning these lads to Premiership sides, there's something about Ibe though. He's got bags of confidence, already has the physique (which Sterling lacks) and is alot more direct. I think he's worth giving a go at the moment, we've got a real unexpected gem on our hands.

Loans are risks as well. Few Premiership sides are willing to take players on loan and play them as the original club wishes. Inglethorpe here is given a specific brief to work on such players in the ressies to shape their individual games exactly as Rodgers wants them for the first team. Doing that whilst building up time in first team matches will see Ibe break into the first XI this season, as far as I'm concerned. Obviously there IS great value in getting as much senior experience as possible out on the pitch, so I accept a loan is a serious option, but personally I'd prefer him to be kept in the squad here and eased into the first team. I think he's one of those who can push on.

I think the conditions are pretty perfect for Ibe and Sterling at the moment. We've got rid of a few players, they're both direct and quick, it's ideal to ease them in as impact players, they're both potential game changers against tiring opposition.
