Sissoko moved from Valencia to Liverpool for £5.6 million in the summer of 2005. His first appearance was against Kaunas on 26 July 2005 in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.

Sissoko was part of the FA Cup winning side in 2006 and played an integral role for the team.

Sissoko was part of a midfield which included Gerrard and Alonso that added much needed steel. However his passing was once too often erratic.. which frustrated a few..

In the summer of 2007, Sissoko rejected offers from Barcelona, CSKA Moskava and Juventus to stay at Merseyside.

His only goal for Liverpool came on 25 August 2007, a low shot from twenty yards out against Sunderland FC in a 2-0 away win. The following summer, Sissoko joined Juventus.

For me ? A hero.. I loved his grit and determination. Was never the same after his eye injury against Benfica.. To eventually losing his place to a superior player in Mascherano..

I was always a big fan of him and I think it's a shame how his career has ended up. At one stage he looked one of the best and fiercest DM's in the game and now he's trying to find anyone who can take him on a free. Sad.

Labeling him either a Hero or Zero would be wrong, IMO.

Some people loved him some people hated him arguing he added nothing to our game. Because of that I thought he would be a perfect contender.

We must recall differently. I believed he was widely appreciated and liked before the injury and that was when the debate really started.

He was an absolute monster of a midfielder before the injury and only aged 22ish. Besides some wayward passing there wasn't an awful lot to dislike

He was great. I loved him. The one vague stand out memory I have of him is (I can't remember who it was - Keane maybe?) but he absolutely monstered some Utd midfielder during one game against them. Funny as fuck at the time. He was a very good and solid DM but sadly his injury got the better of him. I'll go Hero.

I remember he monstered a top Chelsea midfield at Stamford Bridge. Essien and Lampard, I think, couldn't get the ball without Momo smothering them, blocking their passes and options. I think the game finished 1-1 after we conceded a ridiculous Drogba effort, but we were the best side that day, and Momo was the difference.

Hero for me. Loved him even though he struggled to pass to someone 5 yards away lol. I'll always remember him for those monster performances against chelsea, west ham in the cup final and when we went to the nou camp. After that performance when he BOSSED the barca midfield he could do no wrong in my eyes.

Hero just for when he was playing after the injury and got frustrated with his goggles. Took them off, flung them to the side and started throwing himself into tackles. Shame about his passing.

Yep - I remember that game. He was immense that day.

This. Stevie got all the plaudits in that Cup Final, and understandably in the end, but Momo was my MOTM, practically playing W.Ham on his own as the rest of our players - Stevie included - gradually faded. Without him we wouldn't have been in the game sufficiently for Stevie to work his magic.

Not the best footballer we've ever had playing for us, but a definite hero all the same IMHO.

Just couldn't compete with Masher and we made a decent profit selling him.
Loved Momo.

If footballers are supposed to resemble dogs chasing their own tails, then hero. He got the ball, lost it, won it again, lost it again, won it again and then passed it. Spearing, for example, did an edited down version that was just as productive but much quicker and less exhausting.

comparing spearing and momo is just beyond base. tragic post.

Hero. He'd never fit into a Rodgers team but he was fantastic at what he was brought into do. Genuinely

He was as integral as Gerrard in that FA cup final and he bettered some of the greatest players of that era. And he couldn't even pass a ball!

Sums it up for me. Agree with the Judge's comments on the Cup Final too. I like the use of the verb "monstered" a couple of times in this thread to describe Momo's contributions. He must have been quite frightening to some opponents. Never the same after the injury and a big loss - to us and him.

Zero for me, one of the worst passers of a ball Ive ever seen. Phenomemal work rate but very little else, he was like the personification pf Rafas cautiousness
