Henderson to be more adventurous

JORDAN HENDERSON is ready to gamble his Liverpool career on his ability to become a playmaker, delivering the end product.

The £20million summer signing from Sunderland admits he is taking too many safe options at Anfield.

And now he wants to broaden his game by changing his style of play to become a potential matchwinner. But he knows that could bring stick from supporters if he fails to pull it off.

Henderson said: “It is important to maintain possession.

“Sometimes I can be a little bit cautious in keeping the ball, playing a safe pass rather than an adventurous one.

Maybe I need to take more risks going forward. I need to look for runners and give the ball more quickly.

“It is those little balls through that create chances I need to improve on. With hard work and listening to the coaches at Liverpool I will get better.’’

Henderson has been a regular this season with boss Kenny Dalglish convinced he will be a major star.

I like his attitude, he seems a sensible lad, I do however feel hes not really suited to his current position and would do a lot better more centrally.

If he is indeed supposed to be 'The new Gerrard' as most people thought when we signed him, why isnt he slotting into that position when Gerrards injured?

Coz every machem I've spoke to said he only played centrally coz Cattermole was injured and he's better out wide.

we play better when he is in the side, he keeps the ball moing, rarely gives the ball away and always seems to pick the correct pass.

He is improving as far as I can see, he did put in some anonymous weak shifts in his first few games and looked pretty nervous but hes right he does need to do more than just knock it simple. I sort of get the feeling with him that he will take a while to mature into a good player but it think he will.... his attitude seems spot on so thats a good sign, you get the impression he is wanting to do the work he needs to do to get better.
