It does not get a lot of attention outside of India but the Kolkata derby - Mohun Bagan vs East Bengal, a 100 year rivalry, is a big deal in India, particularly in Bengal and Kerala. It is held in the Salt Lake City stadium and the derby regularly gets attendance of over 110,000. Once I believe the attendance was over 130,000. In addition to the footballing rivalry, there is a cultural socio-demographic aspect to it also, kinda like the Old Firm. Mohun Bagan supporters tend to be "traditional" Bengalis whereas East Bengal supporters are the people who migrated to Kolkata pre-independence from Bangladesh and the eastern regions of Bengal. That adds a special spice to the rivalry.
Kolkata is a genuinely great sports city with the Salt Lake City Stadium and Eden Gardens for cricket. The football is of poor quality compared to Europe and other parts of Asia but the incredibly passionate supporters in the stands make up for it.
I think that goal is massively overrated
