Fans bitch and bitch about players not being loyal to clubs, chasing money etc. It's a 2 way street my friend. We can't expect players to be loyal to clubs if a club won't show loyalty back.

Milan thought it was a great idea to let go of someone who is on the wrong side of 30 & injury prone to Juventus, and Juventus go on to win the title with Pirlo being their main main.

I'm sure that won't go down well with a number of people and some twat is going to come on and tell me how no one player is bigger than the club and all that malarky. Fact is Gerrard deserves a hell of a lot more. If he (and Cole) according to Oncy deserve a lot more than what their nation has been able to give them on the pitch then Gerrard sure as hell deserves a lot more from his club.

I agree with Oncy; I think Gerrard deserves a lot more than what England has offered him. He's been told to fill a variety of roles for England by several managers because, as Spion rightly points out, he was the only one with the class and versatility to do so. His abilities, instead of being used for the benefit of his country, have been used to his own detriment.

For England he's never really had a choice; for his club, as we're all painfully aware, he's had several choices. The fact he's stood with the club despite having all the riches and rewards of club football offered to him is something very special. He made that decision based on love and passion for the club - something we've been crying for and unsuccessfully demanding from the vast majority of our players for decades. Here's the best player we've had for at least 20 years and perhaps, arguably ever, showing that love and passion for the club in spades. Our response - get rid for a few quid so we can try and replace with some souless mercenary out of eastern Europe?

That'd be the end of football in my life for quite some time............. and the end of the real Liverpool Football Club forever.

For the last 2 seasons bar the odd occasional stand out performance he has been utter gash, by his standards,

The side has faired better without him in the side rather than in. All too often he has gone missing in games..

I'm sure we will have a stats man here that can prove my point..

Point is if we get offered seriously good money for him.. at his age we should take it.. and rebuild..

Don't get me wrong I love Gerrard.. one of my favourite players of all time and it will pain me to see him go.. But if the money is on the table we should seriously consider taking it..

Sadly football has no room for sentiment anymore if you want to be successful... Dalglishs reign towards the end proved that...

You cant compare that scenorio... Souness stupidly pulled a mass cull of players when he arrived.. too much far too soon.. It probably would of been a different story if he had hung on to the likes of Staunton, Beardsley and McMahon for another season at least..

There's a good argument the team should have been in the process of rebuilding previous to that leaving souey with a very hard job.
