Fastest player

I know he's on loan, but Ilori is supposed to have broken records at Sporting Lisbon

Origi and Ibe are two other very fast loanees as well.

If we're talking all the players at the club, though, I'd say Ojo is probably the fastest. He's built like a sprinter.

Out of the current first team squad there's nothing in it between those 4. If I had to guess I'd say Markovic.

What a (marked) difference from the squad of Hodge and Kenny. I think with Kenny's squad we had Downing, Suarez, Glen Jo and Gerrard as being the most athletic and fastest. I remember people saying we did not need pace at the time.

Would be awesome to see a couple of races: Quickest over 15m, 50m, 100m. Hendo would win the half marathon!

Sturridge, Sterling, Markovic, Moreno, Johnson all absolutely rapid when they turn it on. I reckon Studge might take it tbh.

You can't say Johnson, mainly because he hasn't ran in 2 years

Sturridge is very fast once he gets moving. I think Sterling is incredibly quick out of the blocks. Over 5-10 yards he is really quick.

But, Moreno's acceleration on Sunday was also impressive. He was gone before anyone could react.

I might risk a bet on Moreno after the way he burned Townsend off against Tottenham. Townsend is rapid himself (if not much else) but Moreno left him for dead.

That's very true, although it's also true that Townsend runs much faster going forward than he does going backwards.

I'd say Sterling is the fastest. I'm sure I read somewhere that he was the fastest in the Premier League. It certainly wouldn't surprise me.

I like how we're actually good on FIFA now.

I'm happy we started signing athletes instead of "technicians" and the like.

If we're talking with the ball I'd be amazed if it wasn't Markovic. He's lightning fast carrying the ball.

Sterling's a fast player but IMO the main facet of his speed is in the first 20 yards. Over a longer sprint I'd say Sturridge, Markovic and Moreno are all quicker.

Moreno is rapid with the ball, just look at the Spurs goal, how he kept going so fast whilst keeping complete control of the ball was what impressed me most about that goal, Markovic is a good shout too as he looks like he has the same ability.

It entirely depends on the distance we are talking about, Id say Sterling under 50 metres but over that I reckon Moreno would have him beaten easily

Its technical athletes now

Exactly. For the past few years, even during Rafa's time, I've been going on and on about us lacking creativity, now we've got it in abundance. Suarez was a difficult loss to take but I love the fact that Rodgers prefers pacy, skilful players.
I mean how many did we have in the past 15 years? Discounting the players Brendan signed?
Garcia? (who wasn't that quick)

Got to be BR on the way to the tanning salon or when late for another teeth whitening session.

Not many, but there were a few. Torres obviously. Bellamy as well. I think Benayoun was actually pretty fast, as was Kewell before all his injuries.

There is a difference. For example folk used to go on about how quick Jaap Stam was, but he was slow on the turn and needed the first ten yards to get up to speed. Michael Owen always did him when we played them, and even Baros did so at the Euros when Holland played the Czech Republic.
