Can we still hijack that deal, like we did with Şahin?
SMOKE SCREEN ... we want Fischer ... We'll take the Danish Van Basten.
I want us to look at Alejandro Gomez of Catania. Will be fairly inexpensive, and would be an ideal addition to our attack. Can play both wings - is quick, tricky and gritty (as is typical with these short/stocky Argentine forwards).
Hmm.
I dread to think where Agger's left hand is.
That, and bacon. On his ass ... it's a cultural thing mate.
Up his ass ... it's a cultural thing mate.
Or maybe Coutinho has been so good in that nr 10 role that Rodgers feels its a bit of a waste signing an expencive player that can only play in one position.
I'd rather he spent that money on a top winger who can play on both sides.
Jesus Navas will move this summer, I'd love to sign him.
Is Navas still having "issues" these days?
The possible departure of Jesús Navas at the end of the season was the talk of Seville on Friday.
The most significant thing is that those who know the player well believe that it is highly likely that he will leave this summer. In fact, those close to him have it on Navas' own authority that he is now ready to depart his lifelong team and start a new life a long way away from the Nervión. Something that looked to be out of the question some years ago might now be coming to pass. Navas feels fit, strong and settled, and has matured sufficiently to take on new callings and new challenges. Those who know him best were saying on Friday that now they see him as well suited to facing a new challenge in life, and in fact that his mind is made up. He himself says so. It is obvious that Manchester City's intentions, and the chance to play in the Premier League, would be very attractive to anyone. Additionally, the words of Txiki Begiristaín, who wants to persuade the player personally, could be crucial. But what Jesús Navas does not want at the moment is to be distracted from the task at hand. Sevilla's whole season hangs on these last few weeks, and his wish, should he finally leave for another club, is to get his home-town club into Europe for next season.
Wouldn't say we were healthy. Sterling is work in progress and borini has yet to show anything that says that he's a decent player. But I'm hoping that rodgers main focus is defence and steel in midfield. That surely has to be a priority over a luxury signing like Eriksen. Is Navas still having "issues" these days? I tend to agree re Countino. Wouldn't be surprised to see us buy one more attacker, but with Sterling and Borini in reserve, we're pretty healthy in those four positions.
How many of those fans were Danish? At least some fans have got their priorities right, the result of a voting among Dortmund's fans from yesterday:
54,34% -Christian Eriksen (Ajax Amsterdam)
23,00% - Kevin de Bruyne (FC Chelsea)
13,79% - Bernard (Atletico Mineiro)
8,87% -Heung-Min Son (Hamburger SV)
I reckon we'll buy at least two attacking players and both of quality to compete from the start of the Season. We need this as much as we need a new, world class CB and a DM imo.
Sterling, Borini, Assaidi, Downing, Suso are all decent/talented but neither of them have proved they have got the quality over the course of a Season if we are to expect a challenge.
We are desperately lacking scoring options when either Suarez or Sturridge doesn't hit form, between the rest in the squad I don't see any frequent goalscorers at this stage. We are simply to easy to close down with so little goal-threats in the squad.
Haha.. taking into consideration that it was local newspaper Ruhr Nachrichtens that compiled the survey I doubt that many. How many of those fans were Danish?
🙂
Point taken. Suarez and Sturridge have been looking lethal most Season so I tend to agree that we are not lacking fire power upfront. Having said that a lot of our goals has fallen in games where we are winning 4-5-6 to something why there are also quite a few goalless draws that paints a different picture, than 'enough goals'.We aren't exactly lacking scoring options - we've scored 70 - we scored 77 the year we finished second.
Borini looks like he has a few goals in him if he gets a run if fitness. Coutinho looks like he'll chip in with some. Shelvey & Sterling have it in them to score a few goals. Henderson has been playing in the forward positions and also chipped in with a few.
I think we need one player capable of operating in the wide areas - and that's all in that department.
Getting a quality replacement for Carragher has to be the priority.
CM, a 2nd CB & LB are also areas that need looking at. I'd only think about a 2nd forward "IF" it's funded by selling Downing & Assaidi.
We've only failed to score 3 times in the league since january. And the stats show that if the season had started in january we'd be 3rd(arsenal 1st surprisingly). Scoring isn't our issue, our issue is stoping the ball going in the other end. Rodgers needs to not only focus more on defensive players in the summer but heavily work on our defensive system. A simple cross comes in and we're all over the place. We need better than lucas because he doesn't offer enough protection. Eriksen isn't what we need and Dortmund don't have defensive issues so they can go for him and they need him more.Point taken. Yes, when we play against weaker opposition we are now great at exploiting it, but we struggle as soon as we play the better teams and defenses imo.
We may have the firepower needed but we are desperately lacking creative options when our two strikers are closed down, and preferably creative options that will also chip in now and then making us harder to close down as a team.
