Eriksen not coming to Liverpool

I haven't seen enough of him in full manages to judge him but there's a part of me that's worried that he might end up being like Afellay (I know its rather unfair comparison but I'm referring more to the potential and reputation vs. the progress, albeit the latter's injury woes which probably played a part).

Put your guns down!!

According to Ekstra Bladet it's now us and AS Roma in the running for his signature. No bid has yet been placed officially.

What's that cracking sound?

*listens as the O'Hare meter shatters into thousand pieces....

EB claims their sources to be high within the Ajax hierarchy btw and that a bid could be imminent.

We should really really try and be with Ajax what Chelsea is with Vitesse. Loan them our youngsters, sell them players we don't want but they may (ex: Assaidi) at 'mate rates,' and develop an 'understanding' where we have first option on all their players as long as we offer a fair offer.

15M is no longer a 'fair' offer for Eriksen it would seem to me. The interest appears to have largely dried up from the more to do clubs around Europe and he's only got a year left on his contract.

10M is more appropriate.

He is one of the most productive young attacking minded creative midfielders in Europe, of course he's worth £15M in todays market.

The fact he has so openly promised to sign an extension with Ajax should he not be sold on this Summer makes the duration of it less significant.

Perhaps not in every case I agree but it really is quite clear it's not something fancy he's just been saying, why I reckon it's less important than when compared to players obviously looking for a new club.

But you are right to some degree as he would probably be a £20M plus player with a longer contract.

In this day and age with all the money flying around, if nobody has put up a 15M bid yet, then there's a fair chance that he's worth less than that number.

We're in for Eriksen - from a Spurs mate who reckons they;ve enquired as well (and quoted a 15m fee)

£12million seems the fair price to me, I wouldn't be upset at £15million though. I like Eriksen, my only concern is he's not really that quick (and by that I mean has real dangerous pace before you get all defensive KHL), thats why I for signing Mhk. Also, I've always rated Eriksen highly, which probably means he'll flop like a whale.

He is certainly not as quick as Henrikh. I do believe we have actually got a rather pacy team now but it may prove a course for concern. He is quite fast on the first few yards however, a bit like Allen. Quick feet, low top pace.

There are also concerns over his physical strengths imo but there will always be areas too improve upon in youngsters. He has got great stamina though so that'll make up for some of it.

I hope we pull this off but there are no guarantees he will be worth the money. He is a proper footballer though so I am quite sure he'd be an instant hit in Rodgers team.

We have little to no pace in the middle though, thats what I was referring too. Henderson has some, and it showed it's benefit last season when he made late surging runs from midfield, and got a couple of great goals doing that. Mhk would have been great for that, i'm not so sure Eriksen will be as good, which is a shame.

For what it's worth, which is very little, last year's FIFA rated Eriksen's pace higher than Henderson's.

If that's the case, he can't be that slow, right?

He is no Alonso that's for sure and he can be quite fast running with the ball actually. Henderson pace sounds about his level in that department.

Henderson isn't that quick, but what he does have is lots of stamina. Think we missed out on wanyama personally, but if its an attacking midfielder he's wanting then Eriksen would be a good buy. Strength is something you can work on over time so i don't see that being a problem as long as he has the right mental attitude like coutinho may be small but still fights out there on the pitch.

Just read a piece about runners in football.

Eriksen's registered top pace during the WC in South Africa was higher than the rest of his team mates, including Dennis Rommedahl.

Not always the most precise marker as it is an in game timing but to be fair I am surprised to learn this.

United's Hernandez was the one with the highest top pace of all during that World Cup.
