Eriksen not coming to Liverpool

Just read a piece about runners in football.

Bramble's registered top pace during the WC in South Africa was higher than the rest of his team mates, including Dennis Rommedahl.

Not always the most precise marker as it is an in game timing but to be fair I am surprised to learn this.

United's Hernandez was the one with the highest top pace of all during that World Cup.

I'm going to call shenanigans.

I've only read small bits of this thread but is there actually any strong indication we're after Bramble from any reasonably reputable sources? I don't remember seeing any.

Faster than Dennis Rommedahl? That sounds like a reasonable comparison given that he looks like a 34 year old and Rommedahl, er, actually is 34.

does anyone remember this nonsense?

I remember Rommedahl was running 100m in pretty close to 10 seconds flat, if he's faster than that he should probably be moonlighting as an olympic sprinter. Like i_rushie said it's probably because Rommedahl is old and had a billion hamstring/thigh injuries. He must be semi fast though anyway.

Not saying it's of that much use but it was three years ago during the WC in SA and if nothing else it indicates he is not slow is all.

Ajax manager Frank de Boer has warned Christian Eriksen against a move to Liverpool.

The Denmark international has been linked with a switch to Anfield, as well as other clubs such as Roma and Borussia Dortmund, in recent months.

However, since the Bundesliga side signed attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan last week, Eriksen's most likely destination looks set to be Liverpool - a move De Boer feels would be unwise.

"If they play as they do now, I would not go", the former Netherlands international told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

"The playing style would not suit his own but, ultimately, it is for Chris himself to decide."

Eriksen, 21, has just one year remaining on his current contract at the Amsterdam Arena and looks set to leave before the end of the transfer window.

Should he move to Anfield, he would join an impressive array of attacking talent, with Brendan Rodgers having added signings such as Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto to his squad in the close-season.

Rodgers also has the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez to call on as he attempts to improve his side's seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season.

4-3-3 both with Ajax and Int. level.

Played now and then on the left but has made the 10 or false 9 or whatever it's called his own.

Works his socks off, quick thinking, crisp passing, loads of assists, great set piece taker (awesome corners too), goals from outside the penalty area and quite baldy.

Don't think De Boer is right, as Rodgers is very much a 4-3-3 man himself.

Liverpool encouraged in Christian Eriksen chase

Frank de Boer says he would not stand in Christian Eriksen's way, should the Ajax midfielder choose to join Liverpool.
The Reds are being linked with a £22million double swoop on the Amsterdam club for Denmark attacking midfielder Eriksen and Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld.
Eriksen has been coveted by a host of top clubs including Borussia Dortmund, but after last season's UEFA Champions League runners-up brought in Henrikh Mkhitaryan, it is understood that Liverpool and Roma have been left to battle it out for the 21-year-old's services.
The Dane said on Saturday that there was "some interest, but nothing concrete" as speculation over his next club grew.
Ajax coach De Boer accepts that Eriksen, who has a year left on his contract, is likely to leave this summer, with a fee of around £15million quoted.
And although he is unsure if Liverpool - with no European football at Anfield this season - is the best move for the player, De Boer says he will support him in whatever decision he makes.
"It is up to Christian what he wants," said De Boer. "If he feels good going to Liverpool, then it is up to him.
"I would want nothing more than having him with us for a few more years.
"But we realise the interest in this kind of player is huge. And I can also understand that he wants to make another step in his career. I can't stop him."

So.....now they're getting desperate. Seems like they really want to cash in on him.

As well as get rid of the Belgian CB nobody decent seems to want.

As I said before, I don't really see why anyone should offer more than 10M for Eriksen given the situation.

Won't be surprised if clubs 'do a Spurs' on either/both of them. Ajax would probably find it hard not to take the money on offer with them able to talk to clubs on precontract agreement in less than 6 mths time (come August).
